Caramel Oreo Milkshake (for Artemis.)

It’s only late, you have time
With any reason that you find
Somewhere in slumber
Is someone who didn’t see it coming
If all this leaves you behind
And everything starts to rewind…

~*~

gentleness in the crook of my left arm

sweet coffee and tasteless milk, dripping

against the pale of graphite and in

sleepy moving pictures, just some tired

faces tumbling through colder haze

of unfamiliarity and restless curiosity

from not really knowing what to do, but

a tiny heart beating against mine, it

guides my senses into instinctual concern

for a companion which replaces the love

i cannot truly keep; that similar butterscotch

twist against marbles of innocent aegan

another clever yet cruel coincidence

still speaking to me, to you, to us, to the

furry little darling dreaming of better days

like i have, like you will, like no one else

has ever dared to wander before…will my

arrow collide with the bullseye in your

chest, or will it miss its mark once again?

only time can intertwine these loose threads

pulling at empty air, until we find ourselves

finally curling up comfortably in quiet belonging,

saving all of our leftover warmth for crestfallen rainy evenings.

~*~

Tell me you’ll feel better
When you’re sleeping through the day
And I’ll tell you how you missed it
When you wake
It doesn’t mean anything…

Hierarchical Absolution

Just get me out of this damned place

Where the thieves and parasites all replace

The sanity and morals’ common sense

And jesters jeer at their own complacence

.

Where money doesn’t simply talk, but instead

It fucks with pleasant tongues and leaves them dead

And the messy viscera of every carved-out pawn

Is strewn to hide the sheer filth of pride overgrown

.

Expected to stand up and expected to bleed

Displayed high on the shelves like a trophy kid

Make them all happy, at the cost of your own

Suck up the complaints right down to the bone

.

And I just can’t run away from this cultural poison

Finding heaven in suicide and hell right back home

Please get me out before the familiar slaves drag me back

To a place where I’ll be forced to toil until I self-destruct.

Cityscape

“You take delight not in a city’s seven or seventy wonders, but in the answer it gives to a question of yours.” –Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities

cities crawl with small plastic cars

and termites heading home after a long day

nevermores cast off to sycamore roots

with the darling of knowing nothing else

only the headlights in front of them

transient light guiding wornout concrete

in this merciless grid stuffed with shadows

they crawl without knowing why

and the city skin is beginning to itch

with the burden of perhaps one too many

small feet pitter pattering on their veins

right into the chambers of an ancient heart

that’s starting to slow down

what’s it like?

what’s it like

to be liked?

to be a face

that someone

else adores

with quirks and

smiles kept in

a doting score?

.

to be the start

and the end

of someone’s

best dreams?

to be the lost

afterthought

in their head

still lingering?

.

what’s it like

to be liked?

to be anyone in

a person’s eyes?

to know that you

can mean a thing

so what’s it like

to not be me?

Shades of You

Grey, that’s all there is now.

I used to be the brightest iteration of alizarin crimson, and I wore my lustrous colours proudly on my chest to disguise the bloody cancer secretly tearing irreparable holes inside my slowly-withering system. So bold and reckless I was, that soon I found myself losing full control and suddenly careening headfirst onto your blue brick wall, and well…the collision was more violent, more radiant, more spectacular than you and I and anyone else could ever begin to imagine. No freshest shade of unhealing bruise nor deepest sour of aged wine could ever compare to the stunning explosion of blinding indigo we left on the scene of the accident, that day. The perfect way your incandescent glows and mine contrasted together and exquisitely showered the atmosphere, it was rather exhilarating.

But like everything that’s been left out under the sun just a little too long, the vibrant hues we initially adored and reverently shared started to quietly fade; akin to a rampant disease viciously working its way past our frail bodies, fingertips first. We could do naught but weep dull stardust as we held ourselves together in the tightest embrace, in the desperate yet ultimately futile hopes that we could still preserve our deteriorating youth—that if we hid away well enough, we could keep even just a sliver, even just a sleepless teardrop, of the resplendent spectrum we once thought we would carry along with the siren songs of this universe forever.

But in the end, it was all for nothing.

Soon enough, you had strangely turned into a serpentine shade of lucid green, and my hazy eyes began to see nothing else but charcoal wastelands and bleeding ash. Oh, how we’ve both drastically changed. And maybe not quite for the better. Still, I don’t wish to stain your newfound emerald gleam with my obscene tenebrescence, so as much as it caused a solemn ache to my soulful bones, I decided to completely detach myself and stay away from you for the time being. Instead, I’ll simply attempt to completely capture your eternal likeness onto pure cotton canvas—resolutely translating all of those clashing galaxies and kaleidoscopic tones into softer stencils and lifeless monochrome.

Perhaps someday, if I blink the awaiting future away and press on my eyelids hard enough, it might conjure back even a stray phantom of the forgotten iridescence that your dull, graphite-sketched countenance used to boast; gentle pastels warmly seeping in and bringing back the dusky ochre in your hair, the cloudless afternoon horizons back in your irises, perhaps even reviving the blushing cosmos of your clever lips, boyish and lazily smug as it twists into an elegant sunflower smile. The worst kind. The kind I somehow find myself missing the most these days.

But for now, grey is the only undertone I unfortunately possess. And it’s the only way I could captivate your ephemeral memory to return home within my gossamer dreams night after night after night, until my tiring lungs finally let go of my last saved breath and I inevitably coalesce into a sepulchral heaven—a bleak, distorted paradise where I’ll be doomed to roam with fellow spirits of black and white, for deathless infinities to come.

And after then, after then…who will be left to remember your name?

The Weight

I never give you my pillow
I only send you my invitations
And in the middle of the celebrations
I break down…

~*~

There’s no god

In a meaning

And no meaning

In any god

I’ll amount it to

Nothing more

Than a bad night

And some drunken

Conversations

Because it’s not

Possible, when we

Barely even exist in the

Same terrafirma

Lifted tiptoes

All ready for takeoff

Never really knew

How scary the ground

Was, until you were

Up high and just

Out of reach;

Mistakes disguised

As adrenaline, and

The taste of someone

Else’s expired medicine

It doesn’t feel good

I’m not doing so good

Waiting, regressing,

Our time’s coming

Crashing down

Don’t lose hold

Here it goes—

And then…what?

And then, nothing.

But maybe, just maybe,

Something else.

~*~

Boy, you’re going to carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time…

Welcome To The Real World

Your dreams, they slowly fade
So uncommitted and it’s such a waste
You’re left alone and afraid
Now just confine your problems and
Figure out your own way to solve them...

~*~

Useless kid

With the useless mind

Your petty little art

Is as useless, you’ll find

You’ll never make it out there

With your cloudy dreams

Get in line like everyone else

Into their soul-sucking machines

.

Useless kid

With the useless mind

Your foolish little hobbies

Will fall into the grind

So let them go as you give in

To the travesty of worshipping green

Useless kid, why don’t you just grow up?

No one wants another screwup.

~*~

You can’t get back what you’ve lost
Your conscious is slowly fading away
Go face the path you’ve paved
I watched your dreams die
They fell in front of your eyes…

the memories in

my head and i

.

you make me

feel okay—just

for a second

when i breathe

.

but darling,

that smile of yours

is gonna be the

fucking end of me.

Next Time, It’s Not Just Going To Be A Graze Wound

If you could just step back and try to listen
You would have this all figured out
But your temptations start taking over
Bite and chew the hand that feeds you and I
I am the wretched wolf, feed my disguise
Learning while they cry lines of regret and despair…

~*~

And they’ll call you when you’re still sober, with twisted mouths bleeding smoke

From sucking on the saccharine pressure of trying to get high on smuggled hope

Is it still enough to endure? To find the side of you that’s not desperately aphotic?

Try to play it nice with the drunken sycophants and end up feeling nearly psychotic

.

Find another damn to waste and throw away the restricting boundaries within

It doesn’t count if it’s just a misdirected shot that all the cowards dragged you in

Changing your identity at the bottom of a broken bottle to save yourself some hours

It doesn’t feel so good to lie when your bloody stomach’s spitting out decaying sour

.

But it’s still fine…isn’t it? It’s what everyone does to get by and get away nowadays

Just to be dragged out by their brittle hairs into a world that’s devoid of paper-thin pain

Writing stories fit for prideful cuckolds while your inkstained hands are shaking with guilt

With your lover burning on the stake for the sins you’ve done, all’s fair in love and war and filth

.

And they’ll call you when you’re a total failure, with twisted smirks saying “I told you so”

Pretending to be your closest best friend but only arriving just in time for the final show

Have you found your perfect cure yet? The healthy overdose that’s bound to knock you out?

Try to be half the man you could never be, you know you’re gonna fucking get it now.

~*~

Yet there is no sincerity in the voice projected towards me
Taking the turn of a life and proceed to recycle
The smut into a powerful statue to show
Which way is home and which way leads to my mouth
Drowning all our fears in a euphoric stream of acid…
