lamag-lamag (the chase)

habo ko na.

masakiton magparalamag

saimo—an sapatos ko

ralabot asin raraot na

an kaherak na bitis ko puros

na sana lugad, dawa an

baga ko nagkukurulog

asin magabaton nang

marhay, tapos habo mo

man sana akong tawanan

ning hinangos pag ika

nadakop ko na tulos

.

habo ko na.

napapagal na akong marhay

an sakuyang mapapasaon na

tulang, dikit na sana mababari na

gabos—ta paghuna ko baga

pangiturogan sana ini, pero tano ta

nakamuklat pa an sakuyang mga mata?

dawa anong gibuhon ko, ika man

sana an pirming manggagana

sa kahaluyan kong pagparadalagan

nalingawan ko na kung tano ta ika hinahanap

siring ta ika mayo man sakong

maitataong kamurawayan.

i don’t want this anymore.

it’s so difficult to chase

after you—my shoes are

full of holes and damaged,

my poor feet riddled with

wounds, even my chest aches

and is weighed down heavily

and yet you refuse to allow me

some breaths, when i finally

manage to quickly catch you

.

i don’t want this anymore.

i’m getting severely exhausted

my fragile bones are close to

fracturing completely—i thought

that this was just a dream, but then

why are my eyes still wide open?

no matter what i do, you will always

end up winning, and i’ve been running

for so long that i’ve already forgotten

why i’m searching for you

when you will provide me no triumph.

Oblivious.

He was always

A speck in space

Unable to be seen

By the naked eye

Floating around,

U n r e a c h a b l e

.

It was foolish

Of me to attempt

To catch a meteor

Without thinking

That it would burn

My fragile palms

.

So I stood every night

Under that canopy of stars

Wondering. Hoping. Waiting.

Until the moon bleached my skin—

But shooting stars can never fall,

They will only pass you by.

Dreamcatcher

We’ve been a burden though we were kept alive
By the ones we’ve forsaken, by the ones at our side
The truth we’ve found is out there lost in everything
We can show the way for the wandering
When we’re young, we’re so naive….

~*~

It comes in wavering collapses

Of grief and breathless apologies

The artificial halogens are but false hope

As the truth is buried up to your knees

.

Where do I stand still if not for time?

I feel tears threatening to dwell again

Borderline deranged on black composure

Cyanide approval for minutes of craven

.

Is it worth the catch to let go of the dream?

There’s a ghost whispering lies inside my skin

And if I choose to listen to the sound of hell

Is there a way for me to break the spell?

.

But guide me home where the stars don’t hurt

And the light cast upon me is my transient rebirth

I won’t be resurrected in the blink of a goodbye

Though perhaps this time, I would feel less when I die.

~*~

It’s easy to see we’re running out of time, the walls are collapsing
They’re coming down on me, and nothing’s as it seems
This world is in ruins, you can’t believe what you see
Don’t you see, don’t you see? Don’t you desire to see the truth?

in which love is just another imagined story by a hopeless writer who has dysgraphia

“and though to my arms you are forever lost,
you are a prisoner in my fantasy.”

~Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

~*~

you are my sweetest fiction,

conjured, derived from the very ends of

the lacklustre impediment

that is my algid imagination.

light calla lips flushed pleasantly

(though, i may only be imagining it so)

elusive soul a taunting fugitive

(from which i could never hope to catch

with bare hands and bare feet)

cerise smile melting upon liquid gaze

before i then realise—the blood was my own.

missing birthdays, unsent letters

piling into sealed dictionaries upon my oaken desk

and again, i weep the night sky

in the grievous absence of your starlight.

falling, falling; lilies, lilies,

plucked like shimmering innocence

from the skin of my gritted teeth, sighing

irreplaceable—!

though, your divine body is not mine

to ruin and revere relentlessly

under eternal storybooks and lost volumes of

anthologies, the empty pages

all at once interjecting: “impossible?!”

but, is it always so? must my fluttering shyness

be short-lived like your tyranny?

surely we must not always adore the

blinking butterflies, cascading iridescence

billowing solemnly into my reverie—

accidental interruption.

aralias, aralias; painful, painful;

i am to dirty fly as you are to decadent fruit

dragged down rather cruelly into

the ad infinitum of your fiery veneration

and i am unable to twist my words into cathartic

crashing, collapsing, holding it in…

but, i do not mind at all; for i lost mine

the moment you slipped from enthrallment into

the ache of my charismatic sternum,

submerging me in pacific oceans of desire—

enchantingly alluring me into the cozen, shackling confines

of the prison you call your heart.

The Art Of Oxygen

“And baby, honestly it’s harder breathing next to you, I shake.”

~*~

A million breaths were held in the company of hope

As the lack of oxygen is making the wind choke

Exhale now, I’ll pick up your pieces if you can pick mine

But don’t taste what you can’t have, don’t be asinine

All my worries are invisible like the writings on the wall

As I inhaled opalescent fog, I only found out about the catch as I fall

Between the lines of what you refuse to read, I’ll get what I need

I’ll learn to live without my lungs, I can’t afford the air that you breathe.

Thirteen Minutes Of Scattered Reflection

1.

Insipid thoughts

None of them so much

As to be considered

Noteworthy—

I’m going to write

It down anyway.

2.

Dawn falling in fragments

Chasing the nightmares

Back into my drowsy head.

3.

Classic novellas that

End with a kiss

Rather silly, when

The whole point

Of the story

Is missed.

4.

Am I still your delight?

The pinnacle that throws

Blossoms under your sheets

And makes you smile with

Atrocious gesticulations?

Am I still your late nights,

Or has insomnia coquetted you?

5.

The silver snow stirred

In an autumn pantomime

My patio steps are slippery

A blackbird hums distant.

6.

I promised I shan’t admit such a thing, but…

The songs they sing feel like home.

8.

The irretrievable memories

Of you laughing drunkenly

Under sodium streetlights

As I kept the secret of time

Away so we wouldn’t have

To depart so suddenly now.

9.

Realm infected shadows slip under cedar oak limb

And they painted solemn lips a disorienting black

Vagabond lilies predicating the spirits of escapism

And again the sober hostages soused away the rest

With thrushes, silhouettes and asphodel disembark.

10.

The magnet polaroids

Stuck to the refrigerator door

Showing a false smile under layers of

Clown-vicious makeup

In a bad party for the ageless

…How disgusting.

11.

The pedestrians of Ridgemont High

Are caught in fast times

And the brake halt threw their heads

Out of the car window.

12.

My pulse is dancing in colourful circles

Won’t you try to catch its flightless beat?

13.

Calla-lilies serenade the moon

Icicles piercing icteric sunshine

Stars made for butterfly cocoon

Frog grass stepping, undefined

A diary written in brushstrokes

Of one artless individual’s chest

My ink is bleeding out and soak

I’ll tear out the pages of the rest.

Downtown Dreams

Is it less picturesque than planned?
Here in the car with empty hands, no one’s holding
When I glance at you with a glimpse of blue
Should we go downtown?

~*~

Ravines of green, shorelines of lavender

Hotels of a carpark and chlorine waters

Photos of cherry blossom, us overhead

Tongue tied in hot balloons, hush friend

Downtown abbeys, roads of esoteric tar

Let us sleep tonight and count the stars

And the monsters hurtling from the sky

That will detonate with an escaped sigh

A plastic town with papercrafted people

Melting buildings on the sidewalk pools

Shreds of dreams torn off from the skin

Left under the sewers, no one will listen

Don’t chase the city, don’t you melt away

Don’t shatter clavicles to run from today

That concrete love will only be your wall

It will not be there to catch you if you fall.

~*~

Are we chasing cars in our sleep?
Clinging to a plastic fantasy…

please be the light

in my endless nights

please be the angel

that comes when i call

please be the sight

horizon of what’s right

please bandage my wings

and shatter the walls

please be the fight

between black and white

please catch my halo

when i fall.

We Got That Fever Catching On

There’s a fire in my head
And it’s keeping me from getting out of bed
Take the TV, take the rest
All my riches for a vision and a quest…

~*~

I’ll hold you back

If the fever strikes

But rest assured

That these nights

Shall be mellow

As softest daisy

Cease all sorrow

For rose reverie

It’s not delusion

Simply blithe air

My companions

Would be spares

Do not turn yellow

As old bibliography

For on the morrow

You have no worry

The plague passes

Medicines battled

Retreats en passé

I will be Nightingale

I can hold you back

When fever strikes

For I am your cure

And I shall go fight.

~*~

I found out, I confused desire and control
And maybe nothing’s gonna save me
I’m in too deep, I cast the mould…
