Dry Spell

So it’s over? I didn’t realise
It’s so much colder, but it was no surprise
Did you ever get to know me?
‘Cause it has never been so plain to see
And when you say you won’t forget me
Well I can tell you that’s untrue…

Laughter, that’s all it was, plain and simple, but to me it was a taste of a thousand pink cloud summers spinning overhead the aegan firmament, all at once. Those sunshine glances melting dulcet like sugar cubes in freshly-brewed coffee and lingering softly in dusky southern winds, trailing a fragrant aroma of a verdant fruit orchard freshly blossoming in spring afternoons. Captivated ears perked up as clumsy legs tangled together in a giggling mess of auburn hair and sapphire glances, and the most quiescent sliver of blushing stardust glimmered above it all in enamoured amusement; our faraway symphonic orchestra humming about a foggy eventide streetlight dalliance, concealed under burning shadows on a shivering autumn gloom. Laughter, that’s all it was, elegant and intricate, tasting of an effulgent fireworks display of blueberry ice cream and bubblegum-stained candy floss and red velvet chocolate, all detonating and delicately fizzling out like an exquisite festival in my minty tongue. But the ephemeral seasons have come and gone like drizzling October rain, and that was my final winter’s chill. I don’t want to feel warm ever again.

And I’ve worn out all the reasons
To keep on knocking at your door
Could be the changing of the seasons
But I don’t love you anymore…

Café & Concerto

I need you like the flower needs the rain
You know I need you, guess I’ll start it all again
You know I need you like the winter needs the spring
You know I need you, I need you…

~*~

overwhelming—

the crashing tidal waves

of concerto and palatable

patisserie tastes alike

strummed electric strings

intertwining with bitter

yet dainty chocolate rumble

rough vocals like rough sketches

of rembrandt’s lost art

interlacing and intertwining

in rosaceous thorns like earrings

around my wilting lungs

and caramel macchiato sips

dripping on cherry ink.

beatbox, wind chime, cymbal

symphonies and deep bass

thrumming withing the pulse

of my heart’s sanctity

like the tick of woodblocks

guitars twanging, reverberating

in ceramic sugar jars and

lilliputian silver spoons

placed aesthetically in tables

of a checkered cloth blue

siting under ruby rotund lamps

and incandescent fairy lights

the spill of fountains and tree roots

mellowing down tired eyes that

even the most glaring of

tiny glowing screens cannot

disrupt nor ever distract—

as their helter-skelter classics

bring me back to the past

among decades and centuries

of the good olden days

sixties, seventies, eighties

losing to rustic country music

losing track of time

losing sense to the rhythms

losing languorous repasts

losing myself and finding out…

until my drink is lukewarm.

and the sanctuary of the audience

humming, clapping, cheering

in pleasant pleasantries

sweet teeth stuck in a smile

effete tastes and composition turns

crashing and colliding,

disorienting and dizzying,

blinking and blocking;

until the beat of my halcyon heart

is chiseled to the atmosphere

of that whimsical place

and i feel like i completely belong…

overwhelmed.

And every day, I’d laugh the hours away
Just knowing you were thinking of me
And then it came that I was put to blame
For every story told about me, about me…

Chocolate Midnight

Painting psychedelic patterns

With an illumined algid breath

Warm dark chocolate decadent

On liquid umber and alabaster

.

Pens, music, and marbles alike

On a taciturn three AM artistry

Not a soul dares make a sound

Only I and my bitter drink stir.

Sweet Treat City

Look for love as sweet as cherry lollipops
Find a crush like white vanilla cream
Once again they hide themselves away from me
Cannot see the forest for the trees...

~*~

Fighting the sun with sundae saccharine surrender

Heat waves against a coldest confectionery tender

This nickel twinkle town of sprinkles, love, cherries

Always served up with extra opportuned delicacies

Frozen in time, within sheerest perfection and light

On pastel vanilla days and velvety chocolate nights

Milky clouds, silver rain, and banana moon creams

Roads trailed with syrup leading into lovely dreams

Characters of colours and varying tastes and flavour

You’ll never tire of their different kinds, all in savour

Luscious musings with some crackling wafers on top

Choose your sorbet sensations, the scoops never stop

But the bustling crowds will always slowly melt away

Like if that ice cream’s left outside on a summer’s day

As they drip into the soft fragility of the funneled cone

Into the dark pavement gutters in which they call home.

Bit by bit I taste bit of apple rain
Knowing something good is soon to come
Breathe it in like candy-coated sugar cane
Happiness is now falling from above…
