Of Broken Things and Missing Pieces

I am outside and I’ve been waiting for the sun
With my wide eyes
I’ve seen worlds that don’t belong
My mouth is dry with words I cannot verbalize
Tell me why we live like this…

Wide eyes, broken fingers, dry mouth fermenting

Flickering lights, damaged windows, keep on screaming

Restore, repair, recover, relapse, and repeat

Picking out the sinews and shreds left in bared teeth

Bolted doors, hurt lies, forged padlocks keep away

The monsters with a good memory, even if only for a day

Adorn, adore, admire, abhor, again and again

Growing sick of the cracked facade that’s keeping it all in

Forsaken promises, empty scars, rhetoric brings back the dead

Lost cause, cynical hope, turned backs saying go ahead

Forgive, forget, falseness, falter, falling fast, oh fuck all this

Can’t save what doesn’t want to be, can’t put back what has a missing piece.

‘Cause we are broken
What must we do to restore
Our innocence
And oh, the promise we adored
Give us life again
‘Cause we just wanna be whole…

metal & skin (xxxii.)

i’ll stop after one

i’ll stop after three

i’ll stop after tonight

i’ll stop myself, maybe

i’ll stop after today, no

i’ll stop after tomorrow

i’ll stop, I swear, I promise

i can’t stop anymore, please

iv line around my neck

needles piercing with a pinch

saline as steady as the flowing blood

working past vein and skin

drip. drip. drip.

on the liquid cycle goes

of crimson and clear

of dehydration and decay

of a sickness and sane

as maddening as the silence

that i take for alternative company

in the four confining walls

of this sterile, whitewashed institution.

metal & skin (xiv.)

under the darkness

the cycle proceeds

of a mercury teeth

and a soul in need

under the darkness

the ritual proceeds

with a lethal gleam

and a heart to bleed.

The Backyard Boneyard

In the backyard where stars are buried

The moonlight’s dim, no spectres solid

Black bats avoid the sharp razor trees

And maggots festered under disease

Hell awaits, encased in cold grey stones

From coffins of red and velvet bones

The devils bartering souls for sale

Salvation was but a fairy tale

Lost souls vie for their damnable fates

Pray to saints only when it’s too late

Decaying like fruits, plucked rancid fair

Monstrosity farm, ripeness they bear

Centuries pass, generations chime

Can’t turn back the decomposing time

Ghosts fed to minds to lead them astray

Again the cycle completes its prey

Cemeteries of death and roses

Existences gone with no losses

In the backyard where stars are buried

The moonlight’s lost in shadows solid.

Dwindling Existence

Glazed wan eyes

No stars in the sky

Worn-out smiles

Faux pas styles

Monochrome highways

Lacklustre days

Blank pasty faces

Useless races

Stiff robotic walk

Smaller hushed talk

Just passing by

Saying goodbye

Dropping all faith

Gaining archaic hate

More and more

Feels like horrorcore

Puppets on strings

False joy does it bring

Acting out a play

I wonder why they stay

Clockwork princess

Aren’t you just a mess?

Costumes and masks

Toxic liquid in flasks

Should I stay or go?

The answer hangs loosely so

I’ve got nothing to vie for

My soul’s rotting in bore

I hold the very key

To unlocking the chains and be free

Having the deadliest debate

Should this be my fate?

Glazed fluttering eyes

Mourning stars in the sky

One last wan smile

Before I completely say goodbye.

Human Machinery

Another new day. Get out of bed. Reboot your CPU again.

Clean your parts shiny, no spot of dirt must remain.

Fix the errors, clean the viruses until you are better.

Now take a look at your face in the mirror.

Just the same emotionless face. As always.

Cold. Calm. Careful. Calculated.

Not a single bolt out of place.

Fixed. Unbroken. Perfect. Pseudo-dead.

Not a single wrong. Not a single mistake.

Best to keep up that facade.

Emotions are unwanted and bad.

Plaster a thick mask upon your face.

Don’t turn your mouth up. Don’t shed tears. Leave no trace.

Now take a step outside. Slowly. Carefully.

Into your stage. Into your industrial play.

There are fellow machines also moving.

Nod a bit. But no expressions. No faint smiling.

Start to walk. The creaking of your gears, do not mind.

Walk. Carefully. Into your scheduled place.

Feel the clank of the metal. The process of your mind.

Faster. Faster. Time is running in a haze.

Into the building. Into the office. More machines.

But different. Flawed. Sentient. Actually having fun. Laughing.

Should you be jealous? Should you turn green with envy?

No. That is the work of a failed machinery.

Walk on. Walk on. Ignore. Ignore.

Lay your ocular device upon the cold white floor.

Into your room. Into your work. Don’t move another inch.

Don’t stop. Don’t rest. Don’t eat. Don’t flinch.

Keep on working for the rest of the day.

The ticking time signals the end.

Go on. Give your wires and screws a stretch. Stand.

Off you go, out the building. Into the setting sun.

Another day gone. Another job done.

Step inside. Flick the lights open. Adjust your vision.

Go into the living room. Sit. Turn on the television.

Apathetic to murders. Thefts. Corruption. Bad news. Death.

When time comes to time, shut down your systems and rest.

Repeat cycle the next day.

This is it. This is all there is to my life. To me.

All but perfect cycles, all human machinery.

No emotions. No feelings. No fun. No nothing.

No joy. No sadness. No anger. No singing.

A world of metal toys, grinding gears, and utter perfection.

An industrial society reeking of smoke and oil with no other distractions.

A hellish life of monochrome, darkness, and bore.

Please. No more. No more. No more
