royal flights

my dear pretty starling

you’ll hold my fragile attention

for no more than perhaps a season

.

but i’ll still sit under your acacia branch

collecting iridescent feathers

as i listen to you beckon away the sun

.

and my dear pretty starling

soon you’ll migrate to warmer evergreen

so i wish your wispy heart farewell

.

for mine has rotted off like bad fruit

but i’ll still tuck away the seeds

for your curious beak to plant elsewhere.

dear clumsy lovely

Living in the dark makes
Our light seem cold
I distract myself awake
But in my dreams
You’re playing our song…

~*~

missus cupid, trade a penny for a cloud

i thought too much, and i thought aloud

lucid blue until i’m pink, but you are not

what i wished for, now my face feels hot

.

i’ll be the blueprint to your candy laughs

you don’t have to hesitate or even cough

i was not looking, but guess what i found

a cherub sleeping alone without a sound

.

missus cupid, have a penny for your thoughts?

you dreamed too much, and you dreamed a lot

lacklustre white until i’m dark, but you’re all that

i ever asked for, so let’s be lucky with all we’ve got.

~*~

I’ll tell my friends we made amends
Tying up loose ends; they’re not sold
But if you want it, you can have it
You can have me in full…

Dear Divine Angel

In the morning, hear all the birds sing
It never stops, then, with tears in your eyes
You smiled dressed in coppertone tan lines
Oh, oh, I hope you don’t regret me…

~*~

The faint blush of the morning presents itself

In throes of sunlight and distant reverie

Clouds faltering against the cerulean horizons

Blots of floral spectres, a firmament fantasy

Where were your wings hiding in that fated summer?

Cotton feathers beating against the misted dusk

Hazy in dryads and skirls of falling zephyr

Precipitation from your eyelids ascending from rust

My divine angel, are you bedless yet again?

Gravity defying stars, constellation against heaven

Blooming victims of your violent delights

Splashing around scarlet blood within the snow

The shattered pieces of the diamond-writ sky

Burning out the match between my fingertips glow

Living in a digital galaxy that doesn’t exist

Of our never-ending anthems drowning to transmit

Coppertone static, your veil and mercury ring

Pens of neon twinkle moons accentuate your ‘darling’

Let’s pretend the clocks aren’t stricken with asthma

A heart attack to wake me up under comatosed dysthymia

Enigmatic and mysterious in worn-out outlines

Starlings swoop lost over the desert, but perhaps we’ll be fine

Pink pills under my pillow, sugar against bitter chemicals

Cynical affinity, please save me from their withdrawals

Sing me a piercing melody of pastel red and washed-out white

And paint intertwining chalcedony roses on my graphite ceiling tonight

Darling, I’m aware that I shall never be your personal admission

Your darker brushstroke version, your jacaranda circulation

But as midnight appears to coalesce in dawn’s daybreak gloom

Your twilight lips are mine, dear divine angel, don’t fly away too soon.

~*~

And it won’t be long till we drop this match
When I burn to your fingertips, you can throw what’s left
So long, let’s go and play those games you like
Let’s go and play those games you like…

Cloudburst Cogitations #1: Arctic Invigoration

Oblivion inhaled, blushing health

The world is consuming breaths

So don’t you disappear, my dear

To evanesce in billowing zephyr

A chill kisses softly your cheeks

Gelid arctic renders knees weak

So don’t you glacial fear, my dear

Coldness shall comfort you near.

Misacquaintance

Dear Miss Acquaintance,

This is quite simply such a lovely weather today, is it not?

A fine blending of the seasons, neither too chilly nor too hot

Matter of fact, the sky matches perfectly the blue in your eyes

A cool ice cream colour with a sunny disposition, quite nice

Flattery? Ah, no no, dear miss acquaintance, it is all genuine

Although I quite like the rogue in your cheeks from the dopamine

But enough compliments, before I embarrass myself silly

How was your day, dear miss acquaintance? Pray tell me

I bet it’s been absolutely marvellous, a bonny little jive

Perhaps you’ve gone out with a parasol to take the stars alive

Or caught a redhead fairy in your perfume jar, named it Amelia

Gave it as a present to your cousin, who cheers in hysteria

Maybe you found a butterfly weak, tucked it within your lace hanky

Wept emeralds and rubies in a fit of an injustice melancholy

Ah, how awfully kind it is of you, dear miss acquaintance

Oh how I wish I wasn’t admiring your kindness from a distance

I sorely hoped I was there to offer you a comforting wonder

Or feign a jocular slapstick act to lighten your spirits asunder

Did you pass today by the candy shop, hugged all the sticky kids?

Did you pet that calico tabby by the park, just like you always did?

Did you set in motion a million carousels, spinning pins, Ferris wheels?

Did you make this planet a little greener than it is with your soft rosy heels?

You are quite the mystical creature, I must say, dear miss acquaintance

Your precious soul’s much too fine with purity for the universe to even taste

You splash colour to leaden tinsel towns like a Rembrandt with your dance

Making assurance that not a single day goes by you to wither and waste

Yet now it’s quite the gracious blessing to be resting at the same park bench

With you, dear miss acquaintance, it pulls even my stubborn heart at a wrench

You sit there with that whimsy smile of yours, polishing painstakingly your glasses

I stumble silently on my quill and linen as centuries cease, a sluggish second passes

Ah, it seems, dear miss acquaintance, that you’re rested and ready to head on home

You smile back to me, a glowing lollypop smile, and I trance before I wound up alone

Sitting dumbfound, holding a shaky envelope, a lost letter of all the things I have yet to say

Forgive me, you’re a busy maiden, my dear miss acquaintance, perhaps you’ll hear me out some other day.

Best Regards,

Sir Reptitious

To Augustine

Mien of Augustine

Eyes so aquamarine

Fell hair turpentine

Visage serpentine

.

Wiseful Augustine

Heart indoctrined

Mind crystal clean

Old soul hid within

.

My fairest Augustine

You were my Sistine

My painter’s pristine

Glassblower’s gleam

.

An apex Augustine

A miasmatic welkin

Cynosure demeaned

Stark mise-en-scéne

.

Company’s Augustine

Illustrious at the seam

Stars in the higher levin

Yet sardonyx in chagrin

.

Dear sacrosanct Augustine

In darkest garden evergreen

Rose Eden’s shallowest skin

Vox nihili, you’re our original sin.

Dear Sam (Of Brothers and Bedlam)

Sammy,

Why did you have to be so ashamed

To be this grotesque monster, to ever change?

Slithering demons at first you tried to swat away

But you succumbed into evil, letting your heart sway

Your blood flows with taint, and yet you feel so good

Does feeling so powerful make your mind delude?

Someone else whispers lies, curling tongue behind your ear

The girl you thought saved your life reduces your soul to tears

~*~

Sammy,

Can’t you please learn to forgive

Even when you’re the one that tends to deceive?

You both have your sins that earned you a spot in hell

Not one of you is innocent, that much you and your brother can tell

Both of you wish to end the war, when one truly was the cause

Your jobs your father forced you to, your fleeting souls have cost

The end of the world is leering dangerously near

And you two are willing throw away your lives to be unknown martyrs

~*~

Sammy,

Won’t you come back home

Where your brother laments for leading you to your doom?

He doesn’t care much for the apocalypse if you are led astray

Making desperate deals with angels just so you would stay

Brothers by blood, even though you’re separated

You still call out each other’s names when you feel dessicated

Never mind the Armageddon, never mind the darkness that’s veiled

Just as long as you have someone by your side, everything will be okay.

~*~
