In The Presence of Perdition

“And it is from this world of darkness
Which come the evil, destructive forces of man’s nature.”

~*~

Come one, come all, to the audience of the deceased

Have a taste of the pleasure that your rotting tongue missed

Sit before the actors regurgitating lines in vaudeville sarcasm

And your skin is stitched directly to the burning emblem

So curse all the horrors and scream at the fainthearted

A minor threat, a copycat’s tragic death, bloodshot gazes averted

Give out the two-faced masks that conceal the grotesque

For that flimsy veil of deception that only ire savages protect

So hold your breath and shut your lungs, there’s no other place for the living

Break your grasp and lose control on the mausoleum graves we’re dancing

I’m built for blame and bland on sins, severed eyes won’t see the true vision of hell

And I can’t be saved by devotees and war-bent crimes they preach on the chapel

But don’t worry, I’ll still clap along to the act until my blistered hands catch on fire

Dante’s inferno is just a burlesque caricature compared to this hellish life that even the devil desires.

Crime Is For Vigilantes, God Is For Nonbelievers, Art Is For Objective, Life Is For The Deceased

Pretend like I don’t entice you
I’ve seen you circling the sky above my head
You traitor!
I will never be taken for granted again
Keep digging holes in the desert!
Say a prayer for you…

~*~

The gun that you ate like the last judgment cancer

You won’t wake up again, this taste lingers forever

Dreamless and searching for another god to pray over

Will there be salvation? Will there be a foolish answer?

.

The razor that you choked down like a monastery hate

Won’t return the tidal waves to you, so don’t even wait

If the fragile daybreak rises up just a little bit far too late

Satisfaction is the ultimate lie, rosary beads will separate

.

The rope that you pulled on like it’s the final act of a closing show

But the opera voice won’t stop singing and the audience won’t go

You won’t see without binoculars, the culminating genocide glow

Belting out every tragic demise, shot like holes in a glass thorough

.

The chemicals that you injected and ingested like a sinner’s last meal

Still without a clue in your veins and arteries what it’s like to ever feel

The camera’s shooting another hallucination, another high for the thrill

Between you and me, I’m curious to see who will be taking the first kill

.

The life that you took rather casually as if it was yours to actually control

They wouldn’t stop playing the film reels even when you said to end it all

Selfishness carving lined notches in the bedpost where you’ll take your fall

Slipping away from existence as you wondered if you were truly alive at all.

~*~

She’s mine! You stay away from her
It’s not her time, ‘cause, baby, I’m the one
Who haunts her dreams at night
Until she’s satisfied…

It’s Watching You

This thin man is starting to fade
You won’t be living for long
So, just fly with me, die with me, babe
They all swim while I drown
They just dig up the dirt and bury us into the ground…

~*~

It’s watching you with rotted eyes

The remains of a corpse that holds a lively disguise

He broke out of his coffin and turned it into crutches

When his skin peeled off, so did the soiled bandages

.

It’s watching you with decaying glares

The deceased carcass that’s not quite dead and aware

He brushed the fresh ripe maggots off his tattered suit

And clawed his way out of the dirt and grave in pursuit

.

It’s watching you with hollow sockets yet again

The cadaver with a rancour mind of pure and a desiccated heart of sin

He fashioned his wilted wreaths into a cheap bouquet with your name

For you failed to attend his funeral; and he does not intend to do the same.

~*~

It’s been watching you
Your slips and slurs and play on words
All fall from your mouth
Each mutter, rolling dripping from your tongue
My plagues begun…

Last Man Standing

She could feel the bitter ashes floating in her tongue

The taste of the recently-deceased, and those long gone

As she stood in the ruins of what used to be her home

Staring at what used to be her perfect world, now a shattered dome

The last living human, a hollow victory

Surely heaven had to be nonexistent to allow this cruelty.
