In The Presence of Perdition

“And it is from this world of darkness
Which come the evil, destructive forces of man’s nature.”

~*~

Come one, come all, to the audience of the deceased

Have a taste of the pleasure that your rotting tongue missed

Sit before the actors regurgitating lines in vaudeville sarcasm

And your skin is stitched directly to the burning emblem

So curse all the horrors and scream at the fainthearted

A minor threat, a copycat’s tragic death, bloodshot gazes averted

Give out the two-faced masks that conceal the grotesque

For that flimsy veil of deception that only ire savages protect

So hold your breath and shut your lungs, there’s no other place for the living

Break your grasp and lose control on the mausoleum graves we’re dancing

I’m built for blame and bland on sins, severed eyes won’t see the true vision of hell

And I can’t be saved by devotees and war-bent crimes they preach on the chapel

But don’t worry, I’ll still clap along to the act until my blistered hands catch on fire

Dante’s inferno is just a burlesque caricature compared to this hellish life that even the devil desires.

“Save yourself, don’t ever look back…”

~*~

the mishaps they prophesised

is just another lost epoch for me

over my head, the neon glow

flickers with creed of premonition

.

madness, restored under faith

under penance and keeping such

congeniality running circles in a

genuflected vacation for hedonism

.

the sirens rehearsed another tale

unsatisfied with the heralded audition

drowning the ingenuity in between

applauses of deranged diaspora

.

disparaging exhilaration eliminating

the oxytocin behind my constantly evolving

flesh again, as the vicarious deception

makes me bow my head and continue the end.

The Horticulturist

One by one the days fall beside us like yellow leaves
We have no conscience, oh, what we’re becoming
Month by month the rings on our tree trunks
Like old wise eyes grow wider
And winter lends them a dead disguise…

~*~

all the times

that my pretence

falls away to reveal

a dissecting evil

crashing against the

enamouring dopamine

of your crystal eyes

and whenever the bats

residing in my belfry

bite in rabid shreds

as i told you the reasons

why i don’t need the sun

to watch over my lies…

i didn’t know it hurt.

and even when your mouth

moved to speak of the

florid diamonds leaving your

bones with every suspended

breath i took, still i ignored

it, and culled the butterfly wings

you were only beginning to grow

crushing them for my own fool’s

grey stained glass interpretation.

i see my sorry mistake now

what an envious tongue i was

to impede and torture change

and wring them dry in deception

shivving the lunacy fringe deep

in my virulent, violent strain

perhaps the sense was never mine

to keep in mine caustic waste.

you merely wanted roses to

bloom in your pulsating thorax,

but my scissors never gave

you the chance to do so

and a different shade of scarlet

touched your skin that day.

but despite the endless famine

that haunts my soul, there’s

still thistles to be removed,

fertile soil to be revived, and

you handed me the trowel even

when i already lost sourly to you.

it’s another chance to repair all

the misfortune, to mitigate all the

repercussions, and to plant a

thornless blossom in this stygian

garden of choked weeds and demolition.

i won’t count my stars before

they paint the sky with yellow fire

but i can always count on the

misbegotten heart, sparing

another courtesy for the misguided.

no more plucking petals from

shivering deoxygenated lungs,

no matter how temptingly pretty

they may be to my twitchy fingers;

may the poisonous chemicals

no longer adhere to sprouting foliage

and murder them in cold blood,

may the flora in ingenue poetry not

be mendacious and remain untainted,

and pray let this withering, barren

desert of a garden be resplendently

efflorescent and verdant with life once more.

Now time, like an ocean, knows tide, like a notion
To toss about the house and lose inside the couch
Piles of our thoughts run miles in the dark
Just trying to get home, age by age
We rime with our seasons’ rehearsed routines
Still turning and returning…

Your Trucker’s Hitch Is Sloppy

A free lesson on growing up make the best of their worst
And never compromise what you feel is right
I make a point to be powerful when I speak
Be the one to give them nightmares when they sleep
Never back down from anyone…

~*~

I’m spinning into retrograde motion

Falling apart as the ropes holding me back

Chafe my abrading skin in expelled dominion

I’m in the nadirs of another devilish attack

Feeling dysentery coursing in my bloated tongue

And sooner than later I’ll spit out the plague

In your eyes, and your grasp will slip on the rungs

Of your vicarious deception and mistakes

So rip apart the hatred that buries me

And I’ll be coming back from the dead for you

If there’s any way to bolster out the barrier

I’ll break you first and demolish until I come through.

Sweet Treat City

Look for love as sweet as cherry lollipops
Find a crush like white vanilla cream
Once again they hide themselves away from me
Cannot see the forest for the trees...

~*~

Fighting the sun with sundae saccharine surrender

Heat waves against a coldest confectionery tender

This nickel twinkle town of sprinkles, love, cherries

Always served up with extra opportuned delicacies

Frozen in time, within sheerest perfection and light

On pastel vanilla days and velvety chocolate nights

Milky clouds, silver rain, and banana moon creams

Roads trailed with syrup leading into lovely dreams

Characters of colours and varying tastes and flavour

You’ll never tire of their different kinds, all in savour

Luscious musings with some crackling wafers on top

Choose your sorbet sensations, the scoops never stop

But the bustling crowds will always slowly melt away

Like if that ice cream’s left outside on a summer’s day

As they drip into the soft fragility of the funneled cone

Into the dark pavement gutters in which they call home.

~*~

Bit by bit I taste bit of apple rain
Knowing something good is soon to come
Breathe it in like candy-coated sugar cane
Happiness is now falling from above…

Σειρῆνες

A siren’s sweetest call

With a deathly allure

Come now darling, fall

Into the river Styx’s azure

Closer into lovely music

Don’t you be worried sick

I am here to guide you, love

And inner peace you will have

Dearest, please be docile

And show me that smile

As I drag you further down

But now don’t you dare frown

Into the deepest of the abyss

Strange creatures darting amiss

Into my warmer embrace

Against the cold currents’ raze

But once we break the dark

Where no light shall ever spark

The return path is no more

And we’ll stay here forevermore

Nothing too big will be lost

But your red heartbeat’s cost

And your soul’s soft serenity

So darling, come sin with me.

Starry Eyed

She was always starry eyed

Bright blue eyes twinkling with utter delight

From afar, she was such a pretty sight

From her form to her pupils, she shone very bright

But like all the other visible stars in the sky

It was merely a trick..and she was already dead inside.

Floral Attraction

Perhaps I should apologise

For handing you a bouquet of lies

At first they blustered with loud colours

But time is the enemy and faded them into dour

And now the sharp thorns rage unstoppably

Intertwined around your arms and legs very painfully

And now you scream and call me a liar

And yet you hold the trowel and the fertiliser

Honestly, it was your fault for watering and tending them

Hoping that a flower blooming from the weeds would soon happen

So should I say sorry to you and quit my business?

But then again, I’m a pretty damn good florist.
