Dumb Little Distractions

I can’t sleep.

And I don’t want to sleep.

Although dreams are

The best reality I have

Right now, it’s also easier

To delude and distract

Myself thinking that

Time will go by considerably

Slower, if I were to stay

Awake for the entire night,

And come next morning,

I’ll be too desensitised

And too tired to even worry

About the very things that

Plagued me to insomnia—

A perfect irony.

For now, I’ll laugh myself numb.

For now, I’ll sip cold coffee

And gorge myself on sugary

Treats and asinine videos

So that later today,

I could pretend that I’m still alive.

Misdial

Daydreams that you never want to leave
Only your own thoughts to keep you company
Like a room of strangers staring quietly
Playing make-believe to keep you in between
Selfish and alone, where did you go?
Never find you in a memory…

~*~

It’s selfish to keep it in between my eyes

But I think I’m losing the disconnection

As I constantly find myself in debt with doubt

Wondering if I caused the false commotion

.

‘Cause the conversations don’t play out the same

And I don’t know if it’s all simply me to blame

Music’s a little duller when you’re not there to listen

At night, I wake up to the wrong daydreams again

.

I shouldn’t hold out hope to a fragile glass phone

But the rocks in my hand don’t wanna be alone

So I’ll take back my words, the way I always do

And regret that I couldn’t be your dial tone clue

.

I just hate the way that time fades the brightest of stars

And when the sun comes up, the horizon’s a little less blue

I hate that I couldn’t be there to be a distracting lullaby

Maybe you didn’t lose me, but I sure as hell lost you.

~*~

I feel your apathy, to me it all feels the same
I want to know how to think the way you think
About anyone but me, but you’re never sure
Never present, I want to fill my head with you…

This Uselessness is Murder.

I try to walk away, how has it come to this?
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twice,
I’ve said it a thousand fucking times
That I’m okay, that I’m fine, that it’s all just in my mind
But this has got the best of me, and I can’t seem to sleep…

~*~

Idling away with nothing but my butane thoughts

To reinforce the growing rot in my kindling head

Godforsaken memories ungraciously worm their way

Back from repressed twinge and into my unmade bed

Longing for a grandiose escape from this noetic asylum

I call my own mentality, as I keep desperately clawing

At the thin bleached walls of my own bleeding skull

But never shattering it completely, and only left dying

And I honestly just can’t fucking stand this sedentary state

Eyes left reduced to another silent ticking timebomb

Working my dull teeth’s grind like it’s a paying day’s job

Doing everything I can to keep myself blisslessly numb

And the worst part is when the overthinking kicks in

Hitting me straight in my fractured chest again and again until

I couldn’t breathe anymore, and until I would just about do

Anything, anything at all, just to distract myself and not to feel

And when the mollifying rain stops and the vengeful heat returns

To exacerbate the heavily-settling hell of a migraine inside

It’s all I can do to groan inhumanely and suffocate myself on the pillow

Realising wretchedly that summer hasn’t even started—and I’ve already died.

~*~

Every second, every minute
Every hour, every day
It never ends, it never ends
Every second, every minute
Every hour, every day
It never ends, it never ends…

upside

down

in every sense of the word

looking for a way

to distract my thoughts

against contrition

“i’m tired” i complain

as if i just wasn’t

already long used to it

left behind

by all the chatter

why am i still hoping?

“you fucked up

something again”

my mind screams at me

even though i know

i didn’t (did i?)

“i’m alone”

i mused dumbly

as if it wasn’t such

a daily norm

breaking blood

and draining bones

from its brewing storm

“the sun is murder”

melting away as the

heat and faceless crowd

further add to

this delirious stupor

“why am i still here?”

i want to go home

so i can seek death in peace

and be alone to feel

down

in every sense of the word.

Stealing Seconds of Eternity

[Before I return to take back the stolen eternity]

{It was never yours to keep away, I’m quite afraid}

[Perhaps I was too immodest for my dear adversary]

{Say it isn’t so, you were simply being oddly staid}

[I instruct, here’s how the evening shall transpire]

{I won’t keep any promises, but I’m fascinated so far}

[Listen to my candle pondering, don’t blow out the fire]

{I couldn’t fathom a consequential tenebris I’ve to war}

[Apologies, to me, felt like prickling stars under my skin]

{Infinitesimally glowing, yet you’re ashamed of constellations}

[And though I have but the sun to offer to my regretful kin]

{My mind is awed by the faintest glimmers of an oncoming dawn}

[I’ll cave, while you’re distracted by the illustrious sight]

{Never has thine cold moonstruck eyes experienced such a flare}

[And far too curious and enthralled to even regard your sleight]

{I aspire to discover this incandescence, I’m caught at unawares}

[I’ll do a whispery tiptoe behind your back and reach in quietly]

{I could barely feel a butterfly touch sweetly humming in my pocket}

[And finally have eternity for myself forever, to display in wondrous reverie.]

{Had you forsaken your diamond tears and asked nicely, I would have let you keep it.}

distract//destruct

i need distractions

to get me through

another damn day

in heaving my guts,

choking on oxygen,

and bleeding plays

i need distractions

so the chagrin will

stay the fuck away

if the pain doesn’t

work, then maybe

dying’ll have its way.
