a picture of patience

half-remembered

plastic wiles

you’ve got that

kinda poppy smile

spring fills envy

and i’m steady

though my mind’s

about to break

if i’m sorry

you’re not ready

i’ll still own up

to my mistakes

when you find out

what it means

the oceans stain

with solitary pink

i’ll keep my secrets

right beside you

hope you sleep

before you blink

but it’s early

oh, far too early

and maybe i’ll be glad

for this may be an

augean journey

but you shall be my iliad.

A Lightless Window

Lately when I’m alone I keep thinking about the past
I’m trying to feel weak in my knees again
I want to stand up straight like when I graduated
I just want to be, just let me be worth your time…

~*~

The blinds remained closed

As the person behind them thawed

Melting into evanescent shadows

They’ve been crying for a while, now

.

The stars may seem decadent

But all they taste of is a violent death

Apologies may seem so early

But they’re always a subsequent regret

.

And heartaches are cured

By the lifelines on your opened palm

Begging for another chance

To be saved from anyone, by anyone

.

But the blinds remained closed

As the person behind them coalesced in glow

Falling away into vice and virtue

And they’ve been screaming for a while, now.

~*~

Too much time spent overthinking
Yeah, I’ve spent too much time
Feeling like I should be sinking
I can’t fix everything around me (And it’s okay)
I can’t make everybody happy (And it’s okay)…

Wouldn’t it be great if we were dead?!

I’m not a morning person

And today I’m wearing black

To mourn the death of my motivation

I wish my sleep can go back

And pray I make it through the day

Before my sanity does give way

And my kneecaps’ll shatter down

As into drowsiness I resolutely drown

But if I don’t return back to the living

Don’t listen to their foolish reasons

And don’t give me an early funeral

I’m not a mourning person.
