angel fever

angel fever

you’re making

me sick

cigarette stains

playing dirty

cold tricks

.

angel fever

you’re running

me dry

cough syrup

and kisses

a sweet lullaby

.

angel fever

don’t send me

home yet

my wings are

still broken

and that i regret

angel fever

won’t you pray

for my soul?

your halo’s not

mine, but won’t you

please let me go?

in[flu]ence

I have the fever all warmed up

For the poor sick little head

They’ll cry as they sleep, though

Still refused to get out of bed

I’ve got the fever all warmed up

For the screaming of the choir

I only caused a quiet grey smoke

But he still sets himself on fire.

Circus Of The Unseen

“The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. The black sign, painted in white letters that hangs upon the gate, reads: Opens at Nightfall. Closes at dawn.” ~The Night Circus; Erin Morgernstern

Skin and Bone

Your deception, my disgust
When your name is finally drawn
I’ll be happy that you’re gone
Ash to ashes, dust to dust
Ash to ashes, dust to dust
Skin to bone and steel to rust…

~*~

I feel the insects and parasites

Tangled in sick writhing masses under my skin

Like the paranoia in my blood

Synthesising bone and muscle to cold creatinine

Alkaline anaemia feeding away

On a prion virus anarchy that’s imminent to stay

Distorted appendages and deliria

Cryogenic stitches sewn under lighted penumbra

Hypertensive breaths suffocating

Lacerations and abrasions numbing, intimidating

Allergic to morphine and to pain

Adhesives abuse, an acidic atrocity left to remain

Tourniquet turning my veins blue

Scourge, eviscerate my neurological impediment

Through the slits in my silky skin

Pyrexia tastes like sweet sweat fever, I’ll torment

So let my lethargy be the catalyst

Listen to the acoustic shadow echoing in my ribs

The ligatures fading to distension

Voracious maggots in my head trauma slip incision.

~*~

Let tomorrow have its way
With the promises betrayed
Skin to bone and steel to rust…

We Got That Fever Catching On

There’s a fire in my head
And it’s keeping me from getting out of bed
Take the TV, take the rest
All my riches for a vision and a quest…

~*~

I’ll hold you back

If the fever strikes

But rest assured

That these nights

Shall be mellow

As softest daisy

Cease all sorrow

For rose reverie

It’s not delusion

Simply blithe air

My companions

Would be spares

Do not turn yellow

As old bibliography

For on the morrow

You have no worry

The plague passes

Medicines battled

Retreats en passé

I will be Nightingale

I can hold you back

When fever strikes

For I am your cure

And I shall go fight.

~*~

I found out, I confused desire and control
And maybe nothing’s gonna save me
I’m in too deep, I cast the mould…

Afternoon Tea for a Fresh Start Fever

Let’s make resolutions
I’ve only got problems and no solutions
You’re just someone to the world
But you’re the world
To someone else who told you
Oh heart of mine
Sing a sad song, sing a sad song…

~*~

So there the two of us were;

Caught in silent meditation

Sipping hot elderflower tea

Heaped with a dash of sky

Minty wisps of teal clouds

And comminuted sunlight

To expel the common cold

The infirmity that bothered

You and I into a contagious

Decrepitude and debilitation

.

You didn’t wish to be a man

Chasing sunflower’s whorls

Spiralling deeper into a lazy

Oblivion, you need a change

I didn’t aim to be that person

Watching her pace when she

Walks, chasing the tiled gaps

‘Til I slam headfirst into a wall

Blindly, I had needed a change

.

I deigned for a fresh start fever

Perhaps I could sweat one out

You sat in a chair of oak wicker

Already setting the kettle down

You’ve added spoonful, for two

Of well-wishes to your already-

Overflowing cup of coppertone

As I asked galaxies, precipitate

Some stars so I can taste lights

.

So there we were then, you and I

Daintily relishing our own cuppas

Patient, taciturn, in piqued smiles

Waiting for sunset to drown us in

Waiting for nightfall to kill us both

Never mind it is way past our teatime

Never mind that I’m using your spoon

Perhaps leaves weren’t the resolution

But the company we’ve both savoured.

~*~

Warning you
Oh, heart of mine
Sing a sad song
And it’s a fresh start fever
Who wouldn’t want to be here?
Welcome to the future
Dream a little bigger…
