Of Bards and Boulevards

I am a poet, and I am here to tell you a story.

But, be forewarned, for I do not narrate. I simply leave mischievous glimpses and equivocal fragments for you to pick up and stitch together on your own. I do not wish to be straightforward; for the better adventure is surrendered on a vertical highway. Instead I provide narrow twisted paths and interminable dead ends, unhelpful road signs and perennially blinking broken traffic lights, confusing directions to nowhere that will lead you to everywhere. It is solely up to you to decide where you shall end up, whether it be a populated city with brightly glowing billboard lights, or a dark narrow alleyway with a fetid corpse abandoned under the dumpster. The exact same steps taken can lead to either one at any given time. The travel is truly yours to pursue, and I am merely there to provide you with what scant counsel you might require, and even then, my offers of assistance might be questionable, and the information given will be more misleading than useful. For I am a poet, not a mere storyteller, and my intricate words are your only guide, your sole map and compass in this discordant infinite chaos of a universe that I have created. Never take them as they are, and pray caution, for they do not want you to arrive at your destination. And neither do I.

I am a poet, and I’ll tell you to get lost.

lungs burned in liquor

Like a rush shot through you
Everyone is watching you…
Told you why I see no need for the sun
(I’ve found a reason to say)
A love you light is a love soon gone…

~*~

a rush of blood

under falling skin

serenade confessions

kissing chlorine

gift shop grenades

vertigo weaving clarity

mirror wounds

bleed out my vanity

so tell me again

my heartless lover

lips of rose and needles

an ornamented endeavour

feathers stir past the sea

cloudy sulphur halos

candle-lit reveries

drowned in pools shallow

perhaps this world is

better off without

a trace of vertical stripes

incarcerating doubts

flags of pure surrender

scarlet against satin

i’m dissecting dead stars

a lost name set in latin

my platinum eyes

scratched the vinyl record

sentimental titanium

wrapped in unravelled cords

a rush of oxygen

under decaying lungs

a promenade desperation

touching gasoline.

~*~

If this is it
Don’t bother ’cause this love is a lie
I’m a chemical kid
You’re a mechanical bride…

delusions on a shattered windshield

I came along for the ride
Went wicked with the clutch
Happened so fast and it hurt so much
You’re a car crash and I can’t look away…

~*~

places in my head

a broken lover in bed

sfumato delusions

my skin is my mason

clinical nephilim

blotches of blistered sin

conceited corpses

a viciously serrated mess

laconic silence stutter

currents biting on water

acolytes, ritalin gnash

the spectator of a car crash

hypnotised withdrawals

by absent peripherals

a calibrated miss

of an acetylene kiss

ulcer abdomens bleeding

responsive kerosene

words pierced on flesh

infected raw wounds fresh

places in my head

an autopsy for the dead.

~*~

All I see is shattered glass and
Red lights passing, my life flashing!
Headed for the same disaster
Faster and faster and faster
I couldn’t stop at the red light…

Noontide Fragments

Faint pellucid glows

Afternoon’s glimpse

In pastels and neons

And starry chainlinks

.

Crescendos blooming

Of butterfly proboscis

Nectar gold sweetness

A melody a-la Clarisse

.

Harp, flutes, and violins

Billowed silken curtains

Fabrics fluttering falling

Straits and streams wane

.

Arcane sunsets in eventide

Peppermint eucalyptus lips

Colluded nature escapades

Flowering eddying ellipsis

.

Display of firework hearts

Under faded filter sunlight

Palm tree branches dancing

Onto an exquisite midnight.

Candied Bones

So I crunch the candies

Like bones in my mouth

Sweet flooded saccharin

Taste of visceral doubts

Rotund as an ivory strip

Pale striped peppermint

Red and white and that

Coppery taste, just hints

And fragments that I have

Inhaled through my lungs

And I crunched the bones

Like candies in my tongue.
