Double Dares, No Take-Backs

I wanna make my way into your kiss
I wanna live inside your mind next to your favorite songs
I won’t slow my pace until your walkway
I wanna lose my mood inside a late night phone call with you…

~*~

Keep me in your sights, and double double dare me

I’ll be your clapping beat, now won’t you sing along

The air between our shaky hands won’t be won’t be

Won’t be blowing until our skin gets it all wrong

.

Smile, but the gloom doesn’t dissipate to the moon

You’re my childish reverie, I’m your little red balloon

Play 21 questions until the question marks are tired

Of answering the same old things in our curious minds

.

Keep me in your sights, and double double dare me

I’ll be the song stuck in your head, now won’t you sing along

The wind beneath our heaving chest won’t be won’t be

Won’t be blowing until our skin gets it all wrong

.

Cry, but heaven doesn’t hear what you wanna say

The angels left you powerless, they don’t exist for today

Laugh until the laughter begins to sound suspicious

No one could be that happy, but we’re just both auspicious

.

Keep me in your sights, and double double dare me

I’ll be the lyrics you never wrote down, now won’t you sing along

The zephyr under our interlocked eyes won’t be won’t be

Won’t be blowing until our skin gets it all wrong

.

Talk, but the stars only hear static words and white noise

Expectations take over emotions, you just wanna have a voice

Count sheep until we run out of sandy footprints to break

I’ll go around, wrapped in your bedpost, dreaming of mistakes

.

Keep me in your sights, and double double dare me

I’ll be the instrument in your hands, now won’t you sing along

The breeze by our swaying hips won’t be won’t be

Won’t be blowing until our skin gets it all wrong

.

Kiss, but hell is so faraway from everything else

Slowing down time as gravity makes contact with nonsense

Dance until we’re out of breath, until we don’t care

You’re my spin the bottle, but babe I’m your truth or dare

.

So keep me in your sights, and double double dare me

I’ll be the only favourite song you know, now won’t you sing along

The tempest brewing between our tense lips won’t be won’t be

Won’t be blowing until our skin feels warm and our hearts get it all wrong.

~*~

Feeling my love mood—I kind of see you
When I climb into my mind, that’s where I keep you
And lately where I waste my time
Mirror, mirror, on the wall, show me everything I want
Because I want you now…

Life and all Its Fickle Insanities

Is there a right way for being strong?
Feels like I’m doing things all wrong
Still I’m here just holding on
Confess my heart and forgive my wrongs
Just trying to show you something more…

~*~

You’re trying to keep from going insane

Biting down on your heart to keep from crying out in pain

Walking away from the tomorrow they promised

Would be a grand illusion of borrowed pleasantries

.

If nobody loves you, maybe you deserved none

Existence won’t wait for your fickle mindless derisions

Capture the scars, display them in an album

Filled with bad memories and flickering momentum

.

People might stay for the night, but won’t build your dreams

And the sunset taking back the light is more than it seems

You’re just trying to place the bets on the better

Picking the monochromes and greys in a palette of technicolour

.

Hanging barely on the tightropes by your two fingertips

And the audience might just cheer if you happened to sneeze

If nobody takes you, then maybe you’ll take yourself

Don’t bother trying to pick diamonds out of your golden chest

.

Your fractured ribs will give way to the recalescent candle that stares

Breaking the tongues of forever until you’re naif and unaware

Fighting back the night and holding on to the twisted path of right

Dying again and again until you find that final guiding light

.

You’re just trying to keep from keeping insane

‘Cause ain’t that the way of life and its arid little games

Walking towards the today no one will ever give you

But yourself, this illusion may be grand but the escape won’t beat you.

~*~

Nobody’s gonna love you
If you can’t display a way to capture this
Nobody’s gonna hold your hand
And guide you through, it’s up for you to understand
Nobody’s gonna feel your pain
When all is done and it’s time for you to walk away
When you have today, you should say all that you have to say…

Sidewalk Outlines

I’m half remembered, halfway across the world
Twice removed from a second home
The shadow of a ghost in an old haunt
With a lease on life, ’cause I can’t afford to own
When being young starts getting old
A new place saves face or so I’m told
Be the new kid, on an old block…

~*~

Chalk letters and chalk outlines

Of your body in the blacktop

Playground games that defined

The monsters I couldn’t stop

.

I’m always critical of critics

Casting stones among its kin

As short-sight lovers kicked

Caution off the curbs to win

.

My criminal words misleading

The restless radio remembering

Those vertigo grenades I threw

And I never thought it through

.

Friction turns to sparks but

There is no fuel to feed me

A life of lies, forget-me-not

Legends of a falsified story

.

It’s a big mistake, a big revelation

Towards problematic medication

Substances crafted to taste bitter

Pretending to make me feel better

.

Mechanical cities erasing our names

So say goodbye to playground games

Struggles turned to memories killed

And your chalk outline is left unfilled.

~*~

I’m just a moment, so don’t let me pass you by
We could be a story in the morning
But we’ll be a legend tonight—
Cause you and I, we’re alive
But just for a moment…

Crash and Burn

We always seem to find
A way to fuck things up
At the worst time, you know
We’ve never been the smartest
You know you could have anyone
But standing on the edge I said
I don’t want no one else…

~*~

Hey there, let’s crash and burn

This damn night is too old for the both of us

To take into consideration alive

But these stupid games are about to begin

So why don’t you pick a losing side?

Too young to die, too insane to change

Ain’t that what this city needs?

They say we’re wrong, but we’ll show them

We are the vagabonds that will lead

We’re too reckless, putting it all on the line

If there’s anything we can’t get, hell it’s all mine

We’re the wreckage of the generation to come

Kids dancing on boulevards and playing with guns

These empty mouths are way too crass

But we ain’t nothing to be defeated by victorious

So let’s pick it up straight off the sidewalk

Get out of the way, these minds are about to talk

We’re idiots maybe, as smart as bricks

But we don’t stop to think about your bullshit

Let’s go three times and then we can do it again

I can’t spell fun but I can say when

Crazy honest laughter was always the remedy

For a life of missed targets and bad candy

In lady luck and boy bucks, inciting headache riots

Working heroes and nine to five we are not

Should we feel sorry? Should we care?

Let’s burn hotel buildings down if we dare

Should we simply change? Where does it all end?

Kill off the clock with wasted hours we spend

But our skins and bones were already corrupted

At an early age, our mindsets are polluted

With nothing but garbage dreams and ambitions of junk

So I say screw all this shit, let’s aim to flunk

Sorry mom and dad, I can’t stand on your shoulders

If all it does is make me fall and break as I’m feeling taller

Sorry to the ones who say we’re better off this way

What a shame for the good opportunities you can never take

So yeah, we’ve got a million things to gain if we get it right

But we’ll miss the addicting adrenaline and the thrill of the fight

We have nothing to lose, nothing to prove, but everything to have

And fucking things up has always been what we are good at.

~*~

They say it’s time to grow up
And stop with these foolish games
But I say they’re wrong
She says go, go, go!
I don’t want to take it slow
There’s plenty of time for us to finally get it right
Why don’t we crash and burn tonight?

Street Rage Youth and Genocide Games

If you wanted to set me free
Why the fuck wouldn’t
You say something?
See, I was just over seventeen
May the poison set me free…

~*~

They denied us of sane

I reached for a gold gun

As the aisled preachers

Tried to stop me and ran

This is street rage rising

Against the tidal rivalries

And the jilted best friends

Stalk past crosses calvary

Cherry bombs, acne skins

Vans with USA flag prints

Anarchists for conformity

Stupid stunts within stints

Psychopaths cried to bed

Loners waiting to be wed

Doctors sick in their head

Politicians with tapes red

Modern anxiety attacking

Oedipal boy, daddy issues

Basketball rounds, on ice

Plastic surgery in fissures

And on the autumn quarter

Kids learn to taste their kill

Selling mother and fathers

For pleasure, lies, and swill

Drugs on NC-17 nightclubs

Hookers choked on fishnet

Stockings, five AM Jack D’s

On the backdoor of the bet

Watching black/white films

Drive-in theatres for a thrill

Choke on popcorn and lies

Both buttery, slippery skills

Screwing in elevator shafts

Driving to underage parties

Crashing, fatalities smiling

A nowhere road trip leased

It sucked the peppermints

Right out of their ideology

As shirts ballooned away

And lost their own gravity

Mutilated wrists, it is the

Latest fashion statement

Eyeliners and fermenting

Of vomit on the pavement

Paint Mona Lisa in frowns

Losing control and sanity

Lives on the murder scene

Polaroid deaths they tally

Burn down houses for fun

Destroy the place they call

Home, kiss the pendulum

Razor, and it began to fall

Communists and yankees

Alike, line up for the show

Of a cannibalistic society

And idled massacre glow

I’m the leader of parading

Onto the suicidal carnival

Lines of Peter Piper past

And lead souls genocidal

To their ultimate demises

Of convulsions and blood

May cyaniding be painless

Of earthquakes and flood

But I won’t regret burying

The casualties with graves

Nameless stones careless

Of the foolish youth’s rage

On propane hearts I stand

Swim on oceans of spikes

And the blood on my hands…

Shit, I hate what it tastes like.

~*~

Oh no, please don’t abandon me
Mother, father, I love you so
But this is just me disguised as me
I’m the killer who burned your home
This home! What the fuck is a home?
This is the street youth rising up!

Party Games

A fun old party for the child

Who loves to be unruly, wild

Noose streamers strewn all

Hats to impale, and roll call

.

So let’s start, musical chairs

Pull mine out, say it’s all fair

How about blind man’s bluff?

Keep me stumbling, ha, laugh

.

Pin the blame on the donkey

And make an ass out of me

Spin me around and around

You’re good at that anyhow

.

But don’t you keep that pout

Come on, the party’s hot led!

Whack me like I’m the piñata

Bash bats on my paper head

.

Spin the bottle next, nice one

Spill the beans, make kids run

Bottle, bottle, who’s the worst?

It always points along my girth

.

Want cheaper entertainment?

You hire me to be your clown

Throwing shit pies in my face

Attempting to make me frown

.

I wipe the last of seltzer water

Oh, are the party games over?

All the humiliation over with?

It’s time for the candy shower!

.

And when the cards are read

Plastic plates then prepared

Ice cream makes teeth ache

Here it comes, the final break

.

Presents unwrapped in one take

It’s your party, your childish sulk

But I’ve got arsenic in your cake

So go and blow the candles out.

Puerile Insincerities

Halfhearted apologies

And florid indignities

Are all that ever came out

Of my sugary mouth

And they taste as rancid

As your juvenile pout

I surrender to your illicit

And raise the cotton flag

Unless I wish to wipe it

On the casualty’s blood

I’m a pacifist, honey

I don’t wish for a fight

But your prevalence persists

To rend another bite

Silence is louder than the

Little singsong mockery

You chant and allay back

Hoping to hurt mercilessly

You lick your self-infliction

As you taste the briny salt

Rubbed on open wounds

As if it was my sole fault

For a touch is all it takes

To cause you some harm

One word in charged tones

And you’re rendered alarmed

But for the last time, I’m sorry

I won’t indulge in your games

Even if you attempted sincerity

It will be unctuous all the same.

Rain Some More

Hey now, we’ve got to make it rain somehow
She told me to, and showed me what to do
Our Maggie makes it in a cloud…

~*~

Continuous shouts and protests of “Rain, rain, go away!”

That’s the rhyme all the children chant along to and collectively say

For they all wish to peacefully resume their silly little games

Under the sun, without getting sopped wrinkly and washed down into the drain

.

But to the sight of my childish heart, you are gaiety, Nature’s splendour

In terms of Mother Goose, I’m that foolish eensy weensy spider

Playing by the iridescent puddles, the nipping ardour of torrential rain

Drenching myself in pattering jubilance without bearing any shame

.

The plants join in my strange pantomime, my personal ode to stormy skies

Flowers swaying gently as they welcome waters that kiss their petals nice

The drops of rain that mix with luminescence, an ethereal emotion

Waiting giddily for the bridge of rainbow for me to cross after this downpour session

.

Fun, colour, and the sweet smell of petrichor, won’t you join my rain dance and song?

Indulge yourself in cloudburst joviality until you are soaked to your very bone

For when the sun hides its rays of gold to rest, and the day is dislimned by the clouds that soar

We must find solace in embracing duskiness and frigid water, so let it rain some more.
