lukewarm mochacchino and headaches at 7-11

Ride into the sun, ride into the sun
Where everything seems so pretty
When you’re lonely and tired of the city
Remember, it’s a flower made out of clay…

~*~

it’s been almost an entire year and then some

since the whole flock last roosted just to stay

we’ve had our cue cards and five seconds of fun

and last call of sour fries and cold waffle cakes

but now only two wasted bodies dance under

bright purple lights and the sedated aspirations

nodding heads, from the bassline, from the sleep

and from the sheer lack of plasticine inhibition

when the world is too angry, we still scream back

the past songs of the fallen, clearly left to attack

show me your secrets, then i will trade you mine

senselessly sober, these parallel lives in decline

but cough just once and we’ll have the sad truth

from stretches of lonely nights and elephant tattoos

inside the small cube you call your own freedom

rainbow sheets, cracked mirrors, limp curtains and

claw machine teddy bears protect your kingdom

it’s not much, but something is better than nothing

while i lose my shadow on concrete and let it do the talking

as time revolves unwound and with it the hopeful euphoria

along with false promises of “see you soon” and highschool drama

and somehow i feel a subtle digging tinge of irrational envy

for the things i badly want to do and yet i couldn’t really be

still stuck in all my childish drawings and untuned melodies

but peter pan, it’s time to grow up, now where’s your reverie?

a painful jolt—raging reality, and all the things i will surely miss

crash and cascade along the failed scars coating my flimsy wrists

consumerism and city blends, and chipped black nails left to gripe

old fairytales forgotten a bit too fast, falling victim to the call of life.

~*~

Where everything seems so ugly
When you’re sitting at home in self-pity
Remember, you’re just one more person
Who’s living there, it’s hard to live in the city…

Welcome To The Real World

Your dreams, they slowly fade
So uncommitted and it’s such a waste
You’re left alone and afraid
Now just confine your problems and
Figure out your own way to solve them...

~*~

Useless kid

With the useless mind

Your petty little art

Is as useless, you’ll find

You’ll never make it out there

With your cloudy dreams

Get in line like everyone else

Into their soul-sucking machines

.

Useless kid

With the useless mind

Your foolish little hobbies

Will fall into the grind

So let them go as you give in

To the travesty of worshipping green

Useless kid, why don’t you just grow up?

No one wants another screwup.

~*~

You can’t get back what you’ve lost
Your conscious is slowly fading away
Go face the path you’ve paved
I watched your dreams die
They fell in front of your eyes…

Childish Playthings

You never seem to learn, do you, careless child?

Suffice it to say that you’ve been thoroughly wild

You’ve dashed around madly while running your mouth

Starting such false rumours and making everyone shout

.

You love to hurt with words, and this twisted game you played

To stab a knife down everyone’s bleeding shoulder blades

Black and white, you love to play this human-sized game of chess

And in the end, knock the hapless pawns over in a state of mess

.

You cheat, you lie, you double-cross, you easily create prevarications

A serpent’s forked tongue dripping venomous equivocations

Madness master, wicked witch, the power of vicious spells you can conjure

With a simple jinx and a single word, you manage to instantly injure

.

Taunt and dangle strings of what should never be behind our backs

Dancing with fire, a born arsonist and an egotistic pyromaniac

You love to see innocent people go up in bitter grey smoke

Stealing what little we love have because you yourself lost all hope

.

You’ll never be able to learn, will you, charlatan child?

You’ll still manipulate and hate, leaving us victims defiled

But someday you’ll make a mistake, and end up stabbing yourself in the back

And maybe, just maybe, if you ever recover child, you’ll finally grow up.
