Failing Light (One Hundred Sleepless Nights)

Do you still love me? I am dying to know
Or did you forget what we shared?
Out of sight, out of mind, I was never even there…

~*~

Above anything else, I would let you bury me tonight.

The stars do not weep in the presence of the moon. Hearts wish not to rend themselves apart and souls no longer magically turn to gold simply because of your silver lining. Oceans remain a mystery, and space remains a final frontier, only left for your lips to discover, and for mine to wonder. I’m fully aware that I wouldn’t chase shadows. You know very well that you wouldn’t hurt the darkness. Nothing else makes sense anymore, but irrationality itself.

Do I mind? Would you care? There is no mercy left to be scavenged in these cold, lifeless hands of ours; hanging by a diaphanous thread, desperately raring to furtively unravel. But I won’t leave. I won’t let you down again. I won’t let this skin be filled with scars that tell no tales, occupied with hurt that leads to blind dead ends, embraced with an eloquent love that never existed. These are but synesthetic bouquets of eternity, laid in an empty grave for the unborn, wilting, wilting, wilted. Only you are the darling evergreen; fragrant, flourishing, faded.

Your voice is the exquisite cadence with which my pulse chooses to hum. My blood dances elegantly at the incipient sound of your hello, and it dwindles into a soft lamenting waltz when that final goodbye echoes, an ethereal lullaby that no deity nor universe can fathom, but it keeps me up from midnight diminuendo until the morning crescendo, wretched by my own asthenic humanity. You are lissome and restless by your personal cozen design. I am revered synthetically in my own chemical lassitude. We are clashing and colliding in the reckless throes of a gossamer accident, writing a halcyon tragedy.

But dear, keep your summery thoughts free of winter miasma. Worry not the deceptive haze of your alabaster reveries, don’t mind the labyrinthine obscurance of my obsidian nightmares, and never fear their contemptuous amalgamation, for I’ll take all of them far away from you, beyond the reach of birthed supernovae and black holes, so you may carry on saving astral symphonies with your lungs, and I can take my last fated exhale with a mellifluent memory. Your bed may be worn-out, but I’ll keep myself warm on the traced outlines you left. And I’ll keep on sleeping. And I’ll keep on dreaming. And I’ll keep on waiting for you to wake me up.

Until then, immortal repose is mine. And yours is immortal repose.

heartaches painted in grey

i want a million diamonds

from the sky to shatter my perception

and allude my verboten tongue

.

waiting for florid ice and fire

to thaw in each other’s grasp, aureole eyes

flickering against the soft dimming of the lights

on and off and on and off and on…

.

these hearts don’t belong

to the bathroom stall

and your paperback tales aren’t mine

.

i wish i could collide my mouth with the promises

that you will never keep from me

and i wish you would climb out from the

black screen that you hide under

praying for a sordid memory

.

though they say it isn’t meant to be

but another distant heartache

spilling oil paintings at the back of my

monochrome cracked skull.

Golden Rainbow

saturated in colours

you manifest in alliteration

hazes off my tongue

naïve wish for reciprocation

an adamantine angel

in a matchbox performance

snowflakes in bloom

regalia under silk assonance

hurricane in keyholes

a corona luna synchronicity

mellifluous aspiration

pretty marionette’s liquidity

as under the starshine

we’ll trade vaudeville hearts

entertained clockwork

so splash me with golden arcs.

Come on Holly, Put the Gun Down for Me

Love me as you lay
Dizzy and falling, y
our legs dangling
Accidents happen, they happen to me
Try to forget the beginning and end…
Forget the world!
Without removing t
he glass from your lips!

~*~

Make me another promise

About the seven sins I spilled

All over your faded grave

And the starry innocence I killed

I know I haven’t been the best

But I did it when you were at your worst

Holly, you’re making me choke

I’m steering off my turnpike course

Don’t let me go away now

When I’m about to ask you how

Everything under the roses

Makes me think in bloodred guesses

This rage is highly contagious

It’s severing my every vein quite vicious

The candle lights mask your tears

Only your sunny friends never hear

Holly, you’re killing me here

Your ambitions are craving my envy

Dysthymia’s slipping on your lips

Like cold Novocain and an apology

But don’t call me then hang yourself

Trying to reach for the dollar on the moon

Playing hooky’s bad for your health

We’ll grow up, but not too soon

These fingertips left marks on my throat

With every white lie that you spoke

Holly, I still love the way you murder me

I’ll offer you my doubts and maybe’s

But life can be a cruel farce to envision

I’ll keep the gun from my mission

Your necklace of bullets complimentary

To the blood falling on my gurney

You won the fight Holly, and no pet names

Will taint your rallying soul anymore

And I spent all of my what-ifs and initial fame

Simply trying to attempt to keep score

I have got nothing else left to give but my never

‘Cause I thought these two hearts called a truce

Now tell me Holly, when you say that it’s all over

I understand, but what have you got to lose?

~*~

Doll up and sleepwalk
Until we have some teeth marks
Narcotic sweet talk
Until we have some teeth marks…
(This whole place is gonna burn!)

Oh, So Careless

So I’ll slit my throat, so I’ll bleed the truth
Cut out my tongue so I speak no excuse
There’s enough trash in this blood to pollute you
And I’m just a fuck, hate me, hate me, hate me…

~*~

Careless, so careless

Hapless I with mine words

Amputated my tongue

To save the hearts I hurled

This is a consequence

That hurts to the very bone

I’ve learned to endure it

I might well be carved stone

Why haven’t I wavered?

Every bite spars a new pain

If rage was an operation

None of my limbs’ll remain

Reduced to a veiny mess

You bled me out, I’ll confess

Sharp blades with stress

I am careless, oh so careless…

~*~

I’ve been falling apart
Self-destructive at heart
It’s okay, it’s okay if you hate me
I’ve been living my death
Over and over again
It’s okay, it’s okay if you hate me
‘Cause I hate me…

Break-up, Fall-out, All-in

Fragile butterfly lips, it landed against mine

But then it shriveled up like a staling bad lie

Damaged and demented on a storm of time

Was it a sin to promise a rose for you, not I?

.

You showed me within blue kaleidoscope eyes

Woe is me with fractal illusions of tinted glass

Yet I replaced my fogged-up periscoped lenses

And saw trickery, how fractured it all truly was

.

I saw reason where you saw empty quotations

Wrongful purpose of irrational miscalculation

I pray to angels only the devils will understand

‘Cause you don’t seem to talk an innocent stand

.

I can’t be intoxicated by your diamond breath

Resentment of sharp knives and callous regret

I can’t join another party for the recently blind

I’ve got fun house mirrors pierced in my mind

.

Tumbling upsidedown in carousels of confusion

I can’t fool myself onto believing such delusions

I’m a funambulist tiptoeing delicately on a scale

I might make it if I tried, but if one side tips I fail

.

If there was another sorry, I lost it on the way home

As you dissolved into the fork and I ended up alone

But maybe this melancholy, it will be my new clarity

The road goes on as the light onwards beckons me

.

Prideful glass hearts will only fall hard and shatter

And the gossamer bridges we built shall barely last

My concern scalds me like sunlight on guilty water

Tell me, was it a sin to pick my future, not your past?
