Diesis

i revere you

with clenched jaws

grinding bones

scream, scream

.

ulysses defeated

a sisyphean darling

crushed by mere pebble

and then over again

.

arcana uncovered

red eyes and whitecaps

cigarettes after dark

hypanthium reborn

.

or apoplectic laughter

in a shockwave cadenza

and a swindled affair

wet milk and ballet

.

luxuries losing out to

sensationalism and

tabloid embolism, finding

adverts for martyrdom

.

black flies swarming

on the gloom of my

eyelids, lithium to fend

off the vulgar answer

.

saving the worst for last

submerge all the colours

to confess before the lie

here comes the hurricane

.

yes, i revere you with a

ruthless antagonism

but to love you, mon cherie?

i wouldn’t ever dare.

Beacon

I shall hold you steadfast by the dim of the lamplight

The maelstrom roars its fury, lashing and beating against stone

Shaking the very foundations that brought centuries to atone

.

Knees, collapsing; hands, clasped tightly together in collective prayer

Watery eyes gazing obstinately against the dying of the distant drumlins

But our kerosene hearts will burn out beyond the call of inimical rain

I shall hold you steadfast by the dim of the lamplight

Though it flickers and falters slow, and threatens to fall victim to the wind

And every hourly vigil only brings the hurricane closer to our doorstep

.

Knees, locked firmly; hands, draping crossed against our gossamer ribs

Let the windows rattle, let the midnight howl, and the floods be unleashed

For tomorrow morning, our lamp will grow cold as the sun finally greets us beneath.

Bluer Than Blue, Youer Than You

My empty head is so full of blue

Of bleeding skies and listless hues

Lonely petrichor in hidden dreams

Wish my heart wasn’t so evergreen

.

Hoping wasted hexes aren’t obscure

And the daylight stars are kismet pure

I blink, I wake, I sleep, I breathe, I die

With only pacific blue within my eyes

.

You’re efflorescent June, I’m wilting July

Perfume fragrance and perfume-scent lies

Morning coffee, morning hair, morning regret

Blue as bruises, blue menthol, blue until death

.

Gloom in charcoal and acrylic sighs

Rare as a black hole, losing fallen cries

Wearing cold blue like a feverish flu

Lucid repeat, my ocean angel, tidal you

.

My flooded head’s so full of midnight blue

Of pastel horizons coalescing xanthus hues

Raining embers until the hurricane sleeps again

Wish my empty heart wasn’t lacking aquamarine.

Mood Rings

I never have to carefully shape sentences
When I’ve got some words to say
They’re falling from my mouth from the time
That they hit my brain
‘Cause we built a picture made for frames
We live in chemistry away from all the wasted time and taste…

~*~

There’s a reason why I like the pink in your mood

My words hit the ground, but you catch them so we’re good

If time’s running out for me, I’ll be sure to take it slow

I may be high on conflict but on your sights I’m low

.

The amount of space between my smile and eyes are closing in

But frustration and disappearing sense is not a problem

Because if you laugh, then I laugh, and if you cry, then I die

The city’s a slow waltz into the colourful cocktails we have to try

.

I may speak my mind but I talk with my heart

And it only takes one skipping beat to know where to start

I keep falling for everything that wants nothing to do with me

But I’ll keep trying until the blondes stop being pretty

.

I change so quickly, I don’t even know what to think

And your face goes from soft violet to vivid blush like a 90’s trick

I’m the rain that you chase, you’re the lone cloud in May

Our weather’s too erratic and unstable, but I adore it anyway

.

So don’t get me wrong, your fingers may be pointing

But I’ll take them in my hand and yell bang, the bullet’s flying

You’re troubled by the clothes you wear, confused looks good on you

It accentuates the glow in your halo, but you never had a clue

.

I’m asking all the wrong questions, but you still answer them right

And I’m hoping to the moon that you’ll answer the most important one tonight

I’m dirty red, you’re canary yellow, let’s collide together and be orange fire

A hurricane’s sleeping in my bedroom, can I stay over? We can dream until we’re tired.

~*~

My mood’s dictated by our conversations
And if you don’t text I get too frustrated
I want you all to myself this time, t-t-time
Conflicted looks good on me, I’m trying desperately
I want you all to myself this time, t-t-time…

Signal Number Four

Don’t stop now, though the motion sickness has you
Spinning out, ’cause you’re on your way
Oh, my friend, just look how far you’ve come and
Think twice before you go and throw it all away…

~*~

You’re on your way to the hemisphere

Then discard your self-destructive fear

It’s manic but don’t panic, oh calamity

Doomed typhoons pick up your sanity

.

You’re in pieces dashed at the tidal waves

Tsunami and dizzy hurricanes you saved

Caught up in rampant and torrential rains

Hoping that they could rescue your remains

.

If this is a storm, then where’s the casualty?

Drenched in common colds of catastrophe

Thunder screams at the back of your head

But the lightning never follows close ahead.

Drizzles and Hurricanes

Ocean blue, what have I done to you?
Cut so deep, yet growing through and through—
I built a hive, became one with the bees
But we fell like rain, got lost into the sea
If I don’t know, the wind will carry me
So just hold tight…

~*~

Poured cups of brewed coffee and steeped steaming darjeeling

The warmth in my soul swift spreading, quite a satisfying feeling

Cotton clouds burst, sudden downpour of trickling shallow streams

Spray shower knocking against my windowsill, eluding my daydreams

.

Northeast zephyr blowing unexpected fast without a spoken warning

The benevolent chill down my spine slowly starts descending

Weaker willow weeping and tougher tree trunks all succumbing

To the playful wind’s lighter affections and its wispy waltzing

.

Mirrored epiphanies witnessed, saw washed up mirages of entities

Lost in imagination, exhale on the glass and doodle small fantasies

Adventures occurring on the tip of my fingers, yet sadly easily fading

Before I return to my poetry book, cozy wool socks and duvet hanging

.

A sfumatic skyline, like a halogen haze of pastel paints swirled nonsensically

Hues stark blending, shades violent clashing, but all synthesising perfectly

Shier sun rays cautiously peek out from beneath their fluffy hiding places

Nuanced kisses for lost lingering sunseekers, little vervet golden traces

.

Thumping beats echoing deep from abstract outlines of distant drumlins

Symphony of Sinatra’s crooning coda, ladies and his love serenading

Interlacing silken mists of whispered fog, a show of softer interludes

To accompany the falling twinkle of sapphire raindrops and liquid diamonds

.

Today I’ll be making merry on flowing flumes and floating folded-up paper boats

Won’t you see it sailing under the bridge of rainbow, down the puddle’s one-way course

Today I’m frolicking without a care and having a blissful round of playground games

Indulge and enjoy with sweet-lipped sanguine drizzles and choleric calypso hurricanes.

~*~

Over and over many setting suns
I have run, I have waited for the rain to come
When through that mist, I see the shape of you
And I know, and I know that I’m in love with you…
