L’exquise L’angoisse

Palpitating arteries eviscerate, a familiar taste that tastes like nothing

Frustrated art under his eyelids fading, clever words I’m never caught saying

Lost impressions leave deceptions, a tempestuous flood caught in the fray

Wish my headspace wasn’t suffocating the sun day after another day

.

Imagination stuttering, slowly dying, what are you trying to hide?

If hell’s your new phenomenon, I’m afraid it’s far too late to be described

Every broken bone that the restless audience throws back to your act

Refusing to feel right again, this time I know that I don’t know where to start

.

Don’t look at me. Don’t look at my deathwish. Nor my blinded existence.

I do not wish to breathe the same way you do. Do not bleed out of my presence.

My words are glass blades lodged under my bruised throat, so do not dare me to cough

The eclipse feels impossibly heavier without your weight to hold me down

And so I quietly submerge with only the sound of my empty thoughts.

Deciduous Infinity

“Hang the stars who pulled the pin out of my heart.”

~*~

I’m never going to lose you

The way I lost my past possessions

Of paper stars and empty cars

And first-grade last impressions

I’ve cried in smudged ink a hundred ways

Filling up every spectrum and space

I’ve listened until all the tapes are played

And revolving around in eternal ballet

There has been too much ethereal

In quiet holy places and feisty carnivals

Autumn collisions of the sky and the ocean

Peripherals of songs of resting swans

But I’m never going to lose your dream

The way I lost my fugacious incandescence

From bedless hope and faithless screams

You’re my first place last defiance.

What’s Her Name

She’s a rebel, she’s a saint
She’s the salt of the earth
And she’s dangerous
She’s a rebel, vigilante
Missing link on the brink
Of destruction…

~*~

She won’t leave until the lights turn red

Troublesome girl, rebelling past the bed

A softspoken tongue, serpentine temper

Stories of surprising anarchy and terror

A saint with horns, little girl with a knife

A lace veiled bride, a bruise beating wife

Rules don’t concern her, A-game’s about

Bosses and bitches, she can take ’em out

Perspectives changing as it tore the walls

I guess I never really knew that girl at all

Past her charming smile and demure eyes

The beast to be feared when unleashed lies.

~*~

She’s a rebel, she’s a rebel, she’s a rebel
And she’s dangerous!

Gold Memory Impression

And life is a joke, at least I can love you
Naked and tattooed, counting the stars and scars
And if the pain is a sound, let’s slow it down
Desperate times and desperate measures
I come so close, my hopes are severed by the downside
A million waves in the ocean crash at once
To make you smile…

~*~

A million gold chain links keep me

From reaching your constellations

Idled in a twenty-four hour carpark

5 AM’s ticking away consternation

Chasing the moon whilst in flames

Trace your caved-in lungs and eyes

A stalactite drips your frozen name

Aroma of an elixir that I so despise

Dear, you’re intoxicating as stardust

You’re my personal brand of alcohol

I’m branded by seventeen tally marks

Scratching poems on limestone walls

Unopened pack of A-Lucky Cigarettes

Dragging sanity in soft pewter whorls

Acrid tastes of initial cheaper regrets

As midnight ashes begin softly to fall

I wash the warm blood off my hands

And reach for you, my own lucky star

These rust chains will dissolute soon

Yet leave jagged edges of ruby scars

Still, no matter, that don’t matter now

Your luminance is worth all the pains

Honey, the only thing that I care about

Are your lips leaving a permanent stain.

~*~

Now, I only pray when it all goes down
I’ll be surrounded by the ones I’ve loved
And cared about, and then burn it down
Your serotonin’s gone, kerosene’s gone
The sunset is gone, so hold on…
