lying fallow

Bury me inside this labyrinth bed
We can feel that time is dilated
We can spend the night in fascination
You can thread the needle time and time again…

~*~

everything shall come

to a point where

the dagger draws

deeper and the days

are cut short by

the desire to look

better, “i’ve been

here before”, bend

the irons, scarlet letter

and just let the pieces

roll away, when the dice

hits the mark right above

their concrete stage

unshakable, unbreakable

never admit to fine mistakes

seek the vigil where the

sun used to hide, before it

was all used up for another

casualty’s rude surprise

because it has been quite

a journey, though the

satisfaction was never

symmetrical—so

send the blame all along the

watchtower, for it had

always been non-functional.

~*~

Something to confide in
Something to erase
Just look at where we’re lying
An invisible space…

half-remembered

plastic wiles

you’ve got that

kinda poppy smile

spring fills envy

and i’m steady

though my mind’s

about to break

if i’m sorry

you’re not ready

i’ll still own up

to my mistakes

when you find out

what it means

the oceans stain

with solitary pink

i’ll keep my secrets

right beside you

hope you sleep

before you blink

but it’s early

oh, far too early

and maybe i’ll be glad

for this may be an

augean journey

but you shall be my iliad.

The Castaway

Do you feel you’re not enough?
And impossible to love?
Or like if you spoke your mind
All your words, they would be too much?

~*~

You’re all growing up

And sailing across the tides

Without my untied knot

To render your destination

Oblique, to the oceans unknown

Where a red X marks the spot

.

Uncharted islands, they are

Waiting for your faint signal

For your toes to touch the shore

And your joyous cries to echo

Ringing against the salty breeze

For the treasures you have yet to adore

.

While I sit here, marooned

By my own spiteful conviction

Still tethered to tedious safety

I am unafraid of change, or voyages

Though; it seems, that they both

Are still very much afraid of me

.

While you celebrate among your kin

And depart; to further and vaster horizons

I can only bid you all a great farewell

As I’m stranded, not to my own volition

Shipwrecking paper boats and throwing coins

In my own shallow sea at the bottom of the well.

~*~

Well, I stepped back from
The doubts overtaking me
They were breaking me
So I know what you’ve been through
Don’t you stray or run away
From the good that I know you do…

summer stasis

Well, I guess I could
Sell some nice things
Or write about how good
My life’s been…

~*~

empty pages

being held hostage

by the sweltering wind

of six years spent

without any due journey

or any further recourse

.

i want to change

to arrest new adventures

with the tip of my pen

but, it seems, another year will go

with me complaining about

nothing but being bored.

Maybe I should drop it
Pick a different subject
Maybe it’s deliberate
If it’s lacking substance…

Illicit Infestations

“And about forgiveness, we’re both supposed to have exchanged…I’m sorry honey, but I’m passing up, now look this way!”

~*~

That dead song of the past is singing louder

The earphones that I lost don’t give a damn

Fractured feet and journeys on tepid water

But in the end, infestations devour humans

Blithe risks taken of two intertwining voices

Against apathy and arcade lights and noises

Unraveled guts on parasitic worry, nervous haste

I deigned for a replay, but we failed…what a waste.

Twelve Kilometres

I.) LAZY-EYED MOON

Dear lazy-eyed moon

With your golden gloom

Have you come to accompany

Me in my extensive journey?

Did you come to wink and smile

With that soft butter hue style

My dearest lazy-eyed moon

Will you stay or leave too soon?

~*~

II.) STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO

The manifesto of the streetlights

An unctuous torch flickering unsure

Sounds of rubber against pavement

And prayers and jesting alike, pure

Whence the city aspirations unfold

Into concrete and sentient dreams

Let the heavens listen so they know

This expedition is more than it means.

~*~

III.) SOLIPSISTIC CONTEMPLATIONS

What a perfect nightscape

Perhaps the blithering crowds

Couldn’t ruin this dainty tranquility

If only solipsism were allowed

Yet music’s humming in my ears

As I’m pondering with the stars

In a writhing mass of humans near

I’ve never felt so lone and far.

~*~

IV.) ABRADING WEARINESS

The abrasive blisters in my skin

Are beginning to complain loudly

Let us rest, you pompous wretch!

And my pained feet agrees wearily

The pressing people, intertwined

Of heat, sweat, and testosterone

The claustrophobia drives me mad

Oh, it’s no fun, can’t we just go home?

~*~

V.) LETHARGIC LAUGHS AND LAST CALLS

An amusement and animated conversations

Betwixt mouthfuls of crisps and a macchiato

Pinches and punches and surly fights broken

Sooner than now, it’s time for everyone to go

A lengthy travel adventure—though not quite

An exhausting walk and rarest bucolic sights

Farewell to infinite horizons of the falling night

Until the next peregrination…and pray we might.

Purple Ink (an adventure in absentia)

You accidentally slipped in purple ink and died

Because you were busy pacing, too preoccupied

Chewing nervously on the end of your dented Biro

Accentuating every last thought with a sigh hitherto

.

Upon waking and discovery, you jolt in a dazed state

Your dirt-beaten striped sneakers noisily squeaking

As you dusted yourself and held your awaiting fate

You began your unlikely journey and start travelling

.

Wandering lost upon a forestry of a wildlife mind

Every thick foliage a verdant idea finely efflorescing

Every path an untraced road of the life you left behind

Crushed carmine blossoms plucked away and wilting

.

No sense of direction. Where are you? The lunar ostentation

Pierces into your amour-propre, setting it blindingly alight

With your foolish absurdity, in bland starless observations

Of the complacent monsters you’ve yet to encounter and fight

.

Chasing after creeping vineyards, when their wine is parched

Do you understand? They’ve nothing left to give your thirsty soul

A paucity of the former, this broken forest you vainly marched

What’s the endgame to this latent excuse of a failing goal?

.

Your sanity has turned upon yourself, hordes of screaming demons

That reach for your insatiable hunger, in a lusting of the brain stem

Where’s the exit? Where’s the exit? You attempt vainly yet stumble, gone

Reaching for the light at the end of the tunnel as they devour your lumen

.

Consciousness prods at your eyes, the form of an almost irritating light

Hear an alarm of a beeping machine like a metronome and salty liquid

Your head shall be fine, you’ll recover, doctors assure your ghastly sight

Their placated shiny smiles of false relief dripping disgustingly insipid

.

You accidentally slipped in purple ink, hit your head, and yet surprisingly survived

They said it was a nice miracle, but then again, the Vatican fabulists love a good lie

For the creatures slopped their saliva all over your cerebrum, infecting you thereon

Think it a ludicrous story? Dear, you should’ve seen that slimy ink you stepped upon.
