Small Universe

Ignorance was the smile on my lips

And blue cosmos—the smile on yours

You took dead stars from my eyelids

To birth their light with a solar force

.

And I was content in your constellation

Giving way to gravitating hearts that adored

The brightest nebula in the galaxy—you

As I spun wildly with electricity and fervour

.

Yet the day grew dim when a black hole came

And took all your eternal radiance back to claim

I couldn’t breathe—oh how I tried rather madly

To take for myself some of your losing energy

.

But ignorance were the tears on my eyes

And blue cosmos—the phantom tears on yours

Cursed with a beauty so brilliantly displayed

That this dying light couldn’t ever be your only star.

Rumours and Hearsay From Astronomy

“It wasn’t her who broke the stars.”

.

But she felt guilty all the same

As she stared at the dull midnight sky

Scattered with shards of light that hurt

In astral twinges and lunar fringes

When it hits her unblinking eyes

.

“It was him who fixed the horizon.”

.

But he didn’t feel responsible at all

He was merely there by coincidence

When it began to have mended itself

Coalescing into incandescent dawn

And yet he couldn’t say anything

.

“There’s this girl who locked the moon into the nebulae…

…and that boy painted the firmament rather ebulliently.”

.

Such mere rumours that the bored planets

Whispered clandestine amongst themselves

Altering details and chasing phantasmagoria

As the supernova truth shrank into a black hole

And sucked the boy and the girl in its dark void.

Lose Hold

I want to spin wildly where the veering planets are

I wish to ride in the blaze of a yellow shooting star

I’d love to count the quarks, kiss the sun, chase hope

I’d be ecstatic to surf the nebula, and simply lose hold

I dream to dance the fun night on the galaxies someday

….If only the cruel hand of gravity doesn’t keep pulling me away.

Surreptitious

Sneaking out late, o’er here and there

Past the squeaky groan of tired stairs

Past the soft sighs of fluffy carpet floor

Out the boast of the huge oaken door

Into the midnight skies’ open splendour

Dancing shadows of monochrome colour

Past the cold nooks and susurrus dark alleys

And onto the verdant heart of green valleys

Zephyr blowing ever softly without a care

As I arrive on time to my appointed affair

With the silliest of my little secret dates

Of me and the galaxy’s colliding destined fates

Shooting stars hold tight my trembling hand

Silver ribbon of nebula can only understand

So won’t you take me away to that special place

For a drink of the universe’s intoxicating haze

And tomorrow wake up, cosmic hungover

But tended for by the mellow sunlight’s care until I feel better.

Cosmic Trailblazing

~*~

Auroras touch my soul with limerence

Its nebulae touching my eyes, unknown

Glowing with utter incandescence

Like glimmering bubbles carefully blown

Iridescent, flowing with chromaticity

And yes, only ephemeral, sadly.

~*~

I’m sondering in solitude

Tasting the petrichor, the smell of grass

As luminescence passes slowly by

The planets in syzygy onto the sky

Serenity, comforted by the ethereal light

The darkness around me, yet enflames my heart alight.

~*~

Dusk kisses the skies, twilight set

Painting a kaleidoscopic sunset

The world turns tenebrific, yet worry not

For the moon and the universe blazes hot

Let the constellations bid you a safe goodnight

And tomorrow the dawn shall be your delight.

~*~

Bask upon the heavenly stars, you infer

And serendipity just might occur

A fleeting shooting star graces on by

So you whisper a wish, and bid your goodbyes

And perhaps, just perhaps, it’ll whisper back an epiphany

A secret of the universe, so oblivion you could no longer see.

~*~

I’m caged in an entropic, caliginous wormhole

You spread your wings and dash freely by

My angel, I breathe your name, I scream and call

And yet all you could do is watch and cry

But someday, I’ll break free, and you’ll hazard a trip inside

And together we’ll dissolve into the event horizon side by side.

Cosmic Spill

I encase the spinning galaxies in my hand

Planets in my eyes, nebulaes ebb in my blood

Quasars, constellations, dotting my body, off they fly

The universe in my system, explode and reborn as I die.

~*~

Are we humans alone in this mysterious universe?

Or can our simple songs travel across planets and be heard?

Light years away, our verses are delivered

Let’s wait until demise for their voices to be echoed.

~*~

I am in shameless limerence with the stars

Their incandescent light, time travel, in an epoch

No longer alive when they reach our skies

An ethereal relationship that cannot be stopped.

~*~

Comet, comet, wound ’round my head well

Scorching my eyebrows with your sparking tail

Comet, comet, I bid you farewell

May you not shatter your light and ultimately fail.

~*~

You and I can stop the lights from going out tonight

Let’s unfurl open our wings, and the gravity we fight

Taste the cosmos as we waltz across the auroras and the sun

Gliding in the night skies in ineffable bliss and oblivion.
