eau de cologne

swathes of perfume—

a familiar scent in the storm

bewildered by wonders

and shadows on the dictaphone

renegade tears; again

they surround charlatan hearts

in sounds of scissor envy

the wineglass is fermented sour…

time vanishes into aether.

the threadbare tale of old lovers

bloom on daybreak scorch

akin to an elaborate kaleidoscope

incinerating infinite galaxies.

your anarchy is no longer ghastly

and the oasis of the cityscape

blinks out in a mosaic, one by one

as i quell my febrile miasma

and twist sullen on my empty bed

your form outline is long gone—

but your lingering fragrance remains.

Fauxtographic Memory

I keep losing sleep in beds still made from soaking sheets
And I’m still haunted by the ghosts of people still breathing
I already hate the words, they’re not a thing we even share
Stop looking for a metaphor, it isn’t there…

Photographs in negative slate

Cigarette ash on his fingertips

A lock of hair on the pillowcase

Faint redolence of perfume sweet

Keys hanging on floral keychains

Abandoned stilettos by the doors

Pastel sticky notes on beige wall

Milk spoiling in the refrigerator

Dusty corner in solemn shadows

Familiar strain of a phonograph

Soft touch but a distant stranger

Faltering echoes of ghostly laugh

Red lipstick stains on sheets of silk

And aftershaves of musk and cedar

An empty closet, dirty bathroom sink

His eulogy written in crumpled paper.

Fauxtographic memory
A mind that’s still developing
I turn my back on all I see
Cause everything feels make believe
You tried to stay, I made you leave
And made the world give up on me
I can’t accept reality…

Senseless

The taut feeling of endless jubilance

Peach skies and clouds dashed lovely

Lighthearted touch with a dainty dance

As the new borne day awaits patiently

.

The playful tastes of puffed cinnamon

And mellow lip sticky of New York honey

Dripping saccharine onto my tongue

Scarlet cherry pies all sweet and sunny

.

The sounds of lilting and lifting hearts

And hear a tinkling music box melody

Quaint interludes, the coda’s piano part

Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, and Debussy

.

The beautiful smell of scented souls

Like jasmine, gardenia, and rosemary

Pink perfume playing its perfect role

Soft petals showering ever so flowery

.

The amazing sight of blazing sunset on the horizon

Another sinking day’s clashing orange and crimson glory

But the senses that I have entertained and felt further on

Will always be retained forever in my senseful memory.
