Needle and Thread

You watch me bleed until I can’t breathe
I’m shaking, falling onto my knees
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches…

~*~

It’s all I can do to move past the stark vitriol and hurt

When you dragged me backwards teeth-first, down into the dirt

Like it even mattered which side you and I were even on

Because in the end, I always lost—and you always won

My mouth was full of roses when you started to bleed

Inject the venom straight in my veins, isn’t that what you need?

The morphine leaves my eyes dry and my heart feeling numb

But the side effects were fatal, my breaths tried not to succumb

To the excruciating pain everywhere that refused to wear off

When I kicked back on withdrawals, I screamed my throat rough

I begged it all away for the sake of a higher intake glucose

But the saline dripping turned to rivers of a medicated overdose

Are you satisfied now, medical man, after all that you’ve done?

Should’ve smothered my face with a pillow instead, it’s easier to flatline

But you fooled me into liking torture, even got the signature for my consent

So I can’t blame your hospitality for drowning me under hard cement

Now it’s all I can do to bandage my wounds and lick on the healing pain

Sew my unraveling stitches until empty black holes are all that ever remain

And it never mattered which side was playing the victor and the victim

Because in the end, you will never lose—and I will never win.

~*~

I’m tripping over myself
Aching, begging you to come help
And now that I’m without your kisses
I’ll be needing stitches…

Out Of My Mind

“Nobody wants to hear you
Cry about your breakup, so drop it.”
Well, that’s fine too because
I’m fucking sick of talking about it
Let’s talk about shows and ghosts
And shows and clothes…

~*~

beat me green and blue

until my eyes have tunnel vision

nobody wants to hear me

shed bullets and load ammunition

as the screws in my head

are just twisted too tight to be right

and you can spin it around

and around, but you’ll lose the fight

utter an overplayed excuse

i know i look like a burst drained pipe

and i mix up cryptic words

so you can’t tell or tread on which side

and i’m the human definition

of infinite futility and endless frustration

acting upside down and under

over and over like a patience in remission

so beat me up in black and grey

until my porcelain skin turns deathly pale

i’ll send my wretched self home

at least one of us lived to tell the tragic tale.

~*~

See, I’m like you without good moods and
My cave’s my room where I’ll cave too
Yeah, I’m like you without good moods
And you’ll be sorry when you come to…

for the future hearts

Shake until we move the floor
What are we waiting for? Let’s go
I’m tired of being ordinary
Don’t care if there’s people staring
I’ll rely on your strength to carry me on…

Promises

Forgetting the promises you make
Is how your, your promises easily break
Oh, you sit on your fence and I’ll dig under it
I’ll count my losses and I’ll count my sins
I hope you’ve cleared your mind…

~*~

Promises, promises

Are all they’ll ever be

I heard the same thing

A million times lately

.

Promises, promises

Said you were sincere

But guess I’m to blame

For thinking you’re here

.

Promises, promises

Of vows against blood

Your hand on the devil

When you swore to god

.

Promises, promises

Kept my end of the side

But cheaters will cheat

And the liars always lie

.

Promises, promises

Guess they don’t extend

Cutting ties, and it’s over

Rules were made to bend

.

Promises, promises

Made simply out of need

You’re a bastard for lying

And I was a fool to believe.

We’re running out of time
We’ve got things on our mind
And things we just don’t like
Who do you want to see?
Who do you want to be tonight?

Funambulist

My dear funambulist

Now traipse, don’t trip

The ropes are wornout

Before we could meet

My dear funambulist

Be careful with steps

The height is greater

Than the shaky rest

My dear funambulist

Your walks be wary

No shudder, stumble

Balance you’ll carry

My dear funambulist

From that other side

We knew we couldn’t

Why did we even try?

The Madness of the Raven

“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven…

~The Raven; Edgar Allan Poe

~*~

Perched on a stone, a watchful raven

Searching warily for his personal haven

Where the intruding sun need not shine

In a valley of dry bones, dust, and grime

.

Feathers shaded of deepest midnight

Ruffled wings of a most tactical flight

Sharp talons and beak speckled rust red

Beady eyes devoid of soul, almost dead

.

A well-known thief and a nasty trickster

They all despised his dictated nature

Sleight built inside his stone-cold heart

Clockwork instincts he cannot stop

.

But the raven had a mind of great intellect

A fondness for knowledge, a smart aleck

Yet stirred, obscured by a darker retrospect

Transmuted horror by a nefarious speck

.

He turned to gloom and beguilement

Eroded to dust by his own endowment

Hated like vultures, made stupid like crows

His lost common sense shutting to a close

.

Here thus perches the lonely ebony raven

With a vision of cleverness and high maven

But no one ever listens to his caws of witiness

Because all they can see was just another form of madness.
