silly songs

nursery rhymes

on constant repeat

i’ve memorised the lines

between my teeth

and a pacified child

engrossed by cartoons

the ditties stuck in my head

won’t go away soon.

Cloudburst Cogitations #5: Ring Around The Riot

Pinwheels and whirligigs

Dizzy, dizzy, dizzying me

Ferris wheels and carousels

Spinny, spinny, spinning free

.

Revolving discombobulation

A blurry world in fast rotation

Colours blending, vision bending

Until your two feet are wending

.

Circles silly, dithering twirly

Dizzy, spinny, dizzy, spin me

Pirouette faint to a final slow

Giggle as you fall from vertigo.

★ i’ll ☆

♫•*¨*•.¸¸♪

ill.

how everyone

speaks of me

how they think

my mind is.

the silly child

with dreams

in the cloud

and wings on

the ground.

but this halo

of mine shall

shine again

and soon with

the skies i am

their friend.

the fall was

painful but i’m

made of stars

not ashes nor

welted scars.

they call me

absentminded

but i’m a dreamer

and i emerge to

be the winner.

it’s pretty much

how everyone

speaks of me, but

it’s not ill.

it’s not i’ll either.

it’s i will.

★ pretend ☆

♫•*¨*•.¸¸♪

let’s pretend

wear our masks

to start the play

of plastic flasks

let’s put a pierrot

smile and crack

the guard and to

fake lost attacks

let’s make puppet

speak funnily

make them laugh

at tragedy

let’s marionette

and dance a tune

burn our feet

into the moon

let’s paint a clown

into contrary

when they find him

quite so scary

let’s make jester

balance on balls

and applaud when

he thus falls

let’s harlequin a

small story for you

the ending’s bad

but it is true

let’s mime an act

of monochrome

make you believe

in invisible tones

let’s be fools and

scaramouches and

buffoons and comics

and madcaps, worst best

for a night of revelry

and entertainment hot

let us all pretend to be

someone we are not.
