ghost in the walls

Broken compass still moving forward
A constant north, the one I’ll never know
Like everything, I gravitate to what ends up killing me
We’re separated by a hell of a lot more than the sky…

~*~

i have not dwelt

simply to haunt the stubborn

nor to be wasted away

by tides of hubris.

i may be a mere spectre

but i am nary a ghost

nor another figment of your

mischievous imagination.

you may think me but

another flickering shadow

lingering past peripheral visions,

in the darker corners of your

tired, bleary, hallucinating eyes,

but i am not transient

and quiet mantras and disheartened

prayers will not be enough to

make me go away, vanish.

and my silhouette shall eclipse

your sunrise mind, until

persistence turns to paranoia

and mysticism turns to madness,

morphing your shallow dreams

into abysmal nightmares…

you deserve it,

for you are a murderer—

you have not killed my body,

but you have mercilessly mutilated

my spirit, leaving my heart

beating steady yet badly hollow,

making me vainly ache

for the former tragedy instead.

with what you have done,

it is only fair and just for me

to be the deathless past

billowing rather furiously

behind your closed curtains,

trapping you in my perpetual gale

as you have done to me.

for i have not dwelt simply

to be another superstitious legend

passed around in whispers,

nor will i stay in insignificant limbo

just to be entirely washed away

by the arrogant tides of

the fear you once called love.

~*~

Your wings might be broken but it’s not too late
You hide your emotions so you can escape
You can’t be afraid to make mistakes
And you can’t fake perfection…

insignificance

You’re losing your light
Everything that was yours
Just does not exist

So don’t even try to say
Sorry for the things in life that
You might have missed…

~*~

i quietly wonder

if i had done anything

wrong to reclaim

another faultful star

.

as i stare outside the window

cascading past endless stretches

of worn paved-roads

and vast fertile landscapes

.

and everything looks transiently gargantuan

.

but i momentarily glance

at the empty bus seat next to me

and i feel rather small again

.

flimsy music in my ears

speaking of infinite sentiments

and i’m disenchanted again

these mellisonant voices are enough

they have to be enough

.

to keep my wandering mind

company against the ephemeral madness

.

i flick my red lighter open

and hold it close—but not too close

to my dying pen; wondering, for

a moment, if the same trick could revive

my spirits like the stuttering ink,

tempted to burn my flesh back to life

.

but i merely stare into the flame—

flickering unsteady still—and blow it out

so it doesn’t have to be lonely

as my heart is right now

.

as i travel from small city

to smaller town, i wonder where

all my friends are right now

how they are all doing

what they are doing

.

and if they’re all having fun

without me.

~*~

Sometimes they say this should
Feel something like fire
‘Til it burns you and you can’t
No, you can’t remain the same
Stay the same, although you know
They say this should feel something like fire
No, I can’t change…

The Devil On The Horizon

Are you sick, are you tired, and you’re feeling vain?
Your lips are turning blue
I know you wish you were dead to the world
But there’s something you should know…

~*~

A scream that cuts like the edge of a pensive

Bullets and serpents caught between your teeth

Gritting and gnashing until the pieces shatter

Drown demons under gasoline and burning water

.

You swore there was a heaven, and you let us keep it

You swore there was a hell, but you have kept it secret

Living in this filthy world of hospitals and deathbeds

Singing a little fucking louder to keep from being dead

.

Take us through woodworks, past wolves and putrid decay

Flowers for Medusa, I’ll go tell Slater in the bathroom door

Heal the hurting with rusty needles to sew the pain in half

Within a canvas of dark ink, true maven artwork soul falls

.

Trapped under circle pits, dragged under entrancing spells

We’ll join the club of antivists, our middle fingers up there

This liberation against possession, anarchists for catharsis

What’s yours is ours, and all this hatred could go get pissed

.

The jaded beep of the tiring monitor may never feel your heart

But this mind feels each beat of your raging pulse steadily restart

Sempiternal like the horizon, and you’d better fucking believe it

You’ll scream for the damned and the broken, yeah, that’s the spirit.

~*~

You’re scared, I can see you tremble
Shaking like a dog, shitting razor blades
Feel the shadows like a stranger
Well, join the club, yeah, join the club
Do you think you’re the only one who feels the way you do?
We’re all fifty shades of fucked up…

Terrors in Unseemly Whispers

The spirits of the dead, who stood
In life before thee, are again
In death around thee, and their will
Shall overshadow thee; be still…

~Spirits of the Dead; Edgar Allan Poe

~*~

Upon such terrors that haunt thy endeavours

The whispers that appear evanescent forever

For the pendulum that struck the beating heart

Of the pit in the tomb that dares to intend a part

.

Where does thy mind lie upon the whereabouts

Of clean sanity and conscience driven by doubt?

Nightmares that proceed to take turns every night

A magnanimous beast that thou have yet to fight

.

The foe with eyes that glint sharply upon thy trysts

In a labyrinthine path lies a gorgon after every twist

Steel thy nerves, freeze thy blood, pray to thy angels

That heaven mayn’t bless parlance on a chasmic well

.

And if you defeat and crush the blade upon thou heel

Might such a fair victory alleviate the terrorising feel?

Shall those nights of shadows be buried in sarcophagus

Or is the grave far too shallow to emancipate the rebus?

.

So be wary of the ancient fright intertwining coldly in thy bones

Thus such a scare is undeniable, chiseled on cracked headstones

For upon the nevermore terrors that haunt thy fallible endeavour

The grim whispers turned to gruesome horrors shall abide forever.

The Bone Orchard

In the bone orchard of midnight lavender

Branches pale and bleached, devoid of colour

Where the moon is solemn and stars are buried

Under shadows and overhead darkness florid

.

In the bone orchard of midnight lavender

Where no fruit bears and life burgeons never

Drowsy breeze pushes skeins of leaves wilted

Fluttering like grotesque wings of a raven threat

.

In the bone orchard of midnight lavender

Chill with solitude and still as stagnant water

Black bonfires flicker in garish admonition

As brooding souls wander and moan in perdition

.

In the bone orchard of midnight lavender

Where the restless death shall thus repose forever

Droves of vermins under groves of tales entombed

Where the spectres and spirits linger in their gloom.

Naptime

Beetle black eyes

And candy breath

You will go far, kid

So take a first step

Cobweb fine hair

Innocence astute

Tictac teeth grins

Bunny fluffy cute

Softer than pillow

Or marshmallows

Bumblebee laugh

Every blink hopes

A vivacious spirit

After the long day

Of giggling, crying

Curious soul plays

As you laid to rest

I pondered you on

A wondrous child

My smile guessed

This tired little tot

Tranquil as can be

Sweet dreams, kid

Dream of life for me.

An Epitaph For The Celestial Marching Mercenaries Of The Final Apocalypse

The pious mercenary calling

Ivory halos bent and broken

Freedom, they were waging

With the price of lives stolen.

~faded tombstone inscription

~*~

The hooves came thundering one day, the pale blue horizon turned a foreboding scarlet

As four harbingers arrived, doing damage and causing War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death

The Ultimate Evil broke free from his fettered state, rose in power from the chains and ashes

The end was nigh, anarchy was high, until the skies opened up, and down flew the mercenaries

.

The immaculate mercenaries have come dawning upon our land today

Creating silent storms with their inexorable wings of pure liquid gold

Iridescent forms, fragile butterfly swords dipped in the blood of God

Legends from the end of a century troubadours failed to have foretold

.

Sheaths unravelling and suspended upon the silken strings of calling

Fundamental foundations on which this warring viridian planet o’er lay

For these cavalier soldiers fought and rallied against the stars falling

And saved restless cadavers from treason and potential further decay

.

Celestial hierarchy in motion, choirs of cherubim, seraphs, archangels

Sanctity of the war, exhibition like the clashing forces of moon and sun

White robed guardians arched in a delicate art of finesse, even in battle

Against the austerity of chthonic snarling demons, caliginous as they run

.

An empire of clattering bones and dripped silvery blood and carnage

Ashes choking the northeast breeze along with static crepuscular image

Stones cast whereupon heroes and kings once toasted glass in victory

The tainted lights of the sunset in a thousand days of a darkened glory

.

Holy weapons disintegrating the darkness, wield halos and hand grenades

Line after line of fiends are struck down, interlocked in a contrite parade

In the black and white of the opposed legions, thus occurred a stalemate

It seemed, for just a scintilla moment, that the better had won in this state

.

Yet when the eleventh hour struck, the stained battlefield was wrought

Half the army has gone to waste, and the other half left to fled for good

One survived, a lone figure in brutal combat, the shadows it still fought

Feathers plucked clean raining like hail, yet still, he relentlessly stood

.

Staring upon the paramount beast, standing drenched, shivering in turbid Stygian waters

Looking headlong into his glaring chaotic eyes, mocking, cackling, loathing splattered

A singular hope surged upon his severed veins, energy by grace of God’s dissemination

And with a last leap of faith and roar, he dashed past with broken wings to finish the book of revelation

.

The final frontier has been appended, and the end is a pyrrhic victory with irreparable losses

A defended vengeful side for an unknown singular cause, cost total obliteration to the masses

A valley of casualties lain like a tainted painting, from which artists dare not lay upon the canvas

With the sun burnt out, an frigid winter blanketed Gaia, and Elysium’s throne waited empty, alas!

.

Unsure of who gained the upper hand in this ordeal, a semblance of Heaven and Hell’s last swan song

In pace requiescat, a whisper carried by the last wind, bereft and morose, onto the gales forlorn and strong

And tet all that remains of this violent sordid affair is torn fragments of a yellowing parchment

Yet I tell this tale now, eulogy writ in my own quill and liquid; and I shall raise a glass, a spirit for the spirits

.

So lay a crimson rose in the graves of the bravest men, the fallen comrades, the stalwart mercenaries

Those loyal divine battalions who left paradise to purvey zealous souls against obstreperous enemies

Future hope woebegone, and may they rest in peace forevermore, for they have died, yet not completely in vain

I write this final epitaph for my beloved lost children, may their bold hearts ascend back to the kingdom of heaven once again.

Effigy, Eternity, Eulogy

Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye…

~*~

Upon the empty sky, the bad moon has languidly risen

As the endless crying of scarlet raindrops fall and enliven

Buried in a wooden chest, those cold withered lies

Set for the tenebrific night of the ultimate sacrifice

.

Lonely grey tombstone in the dead shriveled garden

And the blackest funeral flowers by its feet further sadden

Massive pentagram crudely drawn in brightest of red

For the allure of the darkness, the man wished to wed

.

He turned upon and left his faltering humanity behind

For the tiniest sliver of false chances to know the feeling of alive

Tragically though, he had also lost his sound of mind

As into the choking abyss he eagerly plunged and dived

.

Exorio; and she materialises, the sombre spirit of solitude

She stares sadly as she passes through his selfish prime

Stopping his heart, possessing his twitching agitated soul

As the rite of passage slows down the impatient tick of time

.

And he thunders loudly in sheer agony and tortuous pain

As the crack of the lighting signals the oncoming bout of rain

The gloomy spirit has evanesced, taken what’s hers—and more

And excavated the very chasm of his deepest fears and core

.

Upon the clearing sky, the bad moon has quickly disappeared

And crimson drops of fettered ruby are no longer feared

All that’s left is a casualty abandoned in the unnoticed anarchy

Rest in peace; here lies a once-good man now possessed by sanity.

Don’t go around tonight
Well it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise…

Conscientious Hauntings

I’m a rose that’s been raised by wolves
My thorns are getting stuck in everything I know
It’s so hard when you would bleed for the truth you know
But we don’t want the truth, we just want control…

~*~

Trailing will-o’-the-wisps recede from the corner of my eye

Playful phantoms taunt me happily as they float freely on by

Poltergeists scream and rattle as they make an awful lot of noise

Wraiths whisper omens in my ear, such a sickly hollow dry voice

.

Apparitions and spectres flash quickly by the foot of my bed

Shadows slithering out of my closet and into my head

Spirits with sharp wits leaving riddles and soft declarations

Fuzzy figures, orbs of light, that all seem like a bad hallucination

.

I live in a reality where I meet translucent ghosts at every turn

In a graveyard of regrets and dreams, the fallen ambitions of scorn

But the spirits that haunt me and my soul were never such a burden

For these companions remind me of my past mistakes, so I’ll never forget not to do it again.

~*~

…But now I see and I believe
That the ghosts that haunt me
Have been outhaunted…

La Luna Amore (Moonstruck)

Hey moon, please forget to fall down

Hey moon, don’t you go down…

~*~

Won’t you meet me under the light of the full moon?

The twinkling, crying stars are dying to extinguish soon

The brazen sun is too harsh, it blazes too furiously

But the pale moonlight illuminates our souls, so bare your heart to me

.

Won’t you sit next to me on the fabled foreign sands?

Let’s watch the silver fluid diamonds endlessly crash

Scintillating, shimmering, between both sea and land

The ripples on the water like the way our life will clash

.

Won’t you go outside, where the cool wind blows?

And let’s have a tête a tête, trade secrets, quid pro quo

Whispering, laughing in hushed tones, all to ourselves

Sharing our hidden wishes and desires to the susurrus air

.

Won’t you go and reach out to outer space for me?

The lunar cycle is not on our side, unfortunately

The glinting moon will eventually stutter and change a different phase back

As my coruscating form gradually fades away, returning to black

.

Won’t you wait under the moon for me, my love?

We are destined to be together, though celestial bodies apart

The full moon and I shall shine radiant once again

But for now, you and I will just have to wait patiently, my darling…
