intercosmic

if you’re simply

too out there

like outer space

then i’m the

only cosmonaut

that dares to fly off

in a rocket and

remove my helmet

.

to take a deep

breath of your void

tastes of stardust

to make my lungs spin

maybe my head will

pop like a comet

or maybe you would be

my discovered planet.

Dry Spell

So it’s over? I didn’t realise
It’s so much colder, but it was no surprise
Did you ever get to know me?
‘Cause it has never been so plain to see
And when you say you won’t forget me
Well I can tell you that’s untrue…

~*~

Laughter, that’s all it was, plain and simple, but to me it was a taste of a thousand pink cloud summers spinning overhead the aegan firmament, all at once. Those sunshine glances melting dulcet like sugar cubes in freshly-brewed coffee and lingering softly in dusky southern winds, trailing a fragrant aroma of a verdant fruit orchard freshly blossoming in spring afternoons. Captivated ears perked up as clumsy legs tangled together in a giggling mess of auburn hair and sapphire glances, and the most quiescent sliver of blushing stardust glimmered above it all in enamoured amusement; our faraway symphonic orchestra humming about a foggy eventide streetlight dalliance, concealed under burning shadows on a shivering autumn gloom. Laughter, that’s all it was, elegant and intricate, tasting of an effulgent fireworks display of blueberry ice cream and bubblegum-stained candy floss and red velvet chocolate, all detonating and delicately fizzling out like an exquisite festival in my minty tongue. But the ephemeral seasons have come and gone like drizzling October rain, and that was my final winter’s chill. I don’t want to feel warm ever again.

~*~

And I’ve worn out all the reasons
To keep on knocking at your door
Could be the changing of the seasons
But I don’t love you anymore…

Illusion Elision

Paint my floral lips with mimicked authenticity

As my silver dollar eyes revolve like a penny

My underwater heart makes me feel rather charmed

And my blood is a reservoir of stardust so warm

So when I ardently drip off the golden canvas

Count me on the year-old calendars of never was

When the magic dare denies my convoluted attraction

Bury me in lilac sentiment—a wishless notion.

Glass Stars and Warm Skin

The glass stars crumble to sand every night

Fall on your skin like cool raindrops might

It cuts and maims, yellow aegean scintillate

Until you are a universe, cosmos constellate

It wasn’t facile to achieve your quaint glows

You bled life away before it shines thorough

The glass stars sparkling in a showering light

Your body tasting stardust like the sky might.

Stardust Reveries

Then he waited, marshaling his thoughts and brooding over his still untested powers. For though he was master of the world, he was not quite sure what to do next. But he would think of something.” ~2001: A Space Odyssey; Arthur C. Clarke

So say that the tattoos

On phantom skin

Are cobwebs of stars

.

Maybe the atmosphere

That you breathed

Pierce the veil and mars

.

Birthed from singularity

Incandescence of

A binary planet system

.

Suspended animations

Earth’s a play toy

Unbeknownst to realm

.

Hyperspace surrealism

White dwarf on a

Sun’s horizon falling fast

.

Man was built for clever

Whims, yet, they

Are never meant to last

.

Crash through a Stargate

Extrasolar negative

Transcending humanity

.

Tip of an ethereal finger

Detonating dawn

Instilling a false clarity

.

Interstellar absurdities

Ebon polaris pins

Andromeda memories

.

Make way for hydrogen

Of one star child

And its stardust reveries.

Midnight Clear

Sitting by the chartreuse grass, basking on this marvellous midnight clear

With only my little furry canine companion to keep me close and dear

Curiously he sniffles at the soft tawny dirt, lost in a discovering game of trust

As I revel hazily at the ebony tapestry sky, lost in bright showers of fiery stardust

Crickets chirping tranquil lullabies, the cool wind but a smooth whimsy refrain

The dulcet merry tune of harmonic hearts, consonance ringing clear and plain

The calm prelude of peacefulness after a harried day of melancholic exposure

A rare serene night where everything is halcyon and right, nothing more I could ever ask for.

“The nitrogen in our DNA. The calcium in our teeth. The iron in our blood. The carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of star stuff.” ~Carl Sagan

~*~

Shooting stars watch me fall apart

And clothe me in the great yellow sun

Dance on a boulevard of broken hearts

Sparkling shards of my regretted fun

Dashing comets spun around the clock

Chasing off Time’s ceaseless wails

Asteroids in collision course with rocks

Running after their own scorching tails

Lace my DNA with the nebula’s love

Genes of intoxicating nitroglycerine

My fingertips sends their best regards

To the Northern Lights waving between

Negative particles nibbling at the dark

Hungry midnight devouring the light

But worry not for there’s always a spark

That gives it a stomachache and fights

The universe grows in a mad blaze of glory

Won’t you hear out my quaint sacrifice?

Bored galaxies don’t care much for my story

Humans are but creatures of early demise

For what are we compared to their stellar gears

But some wispy aches and sinews of skin?

Astral plains have shed marvellous tears

Yet we’re but without fates floating within

But just as stars will collapse and embrace

And our old ivory bones will creak and rust

Like everything in this infinite soul of space

We all must revert to stardust.
