anglerfish

tiny anchors around my soft waist

pull me under—it was all my

fault, for i’d swallowed them whole

.

the bottom of the ocean holds

great pressure, and strange creatures

constructed of paper and bones

.

poking, prodding, peeking out

beyond their weary calcium sneers

yet they look so fascinating to me

.

whilst the absence of sun has long

bleached their complexion to a

ghastly paleness, the kind i would

.

literally die for, and only the barest

hints of trembling oxygen occasionally

bubble out of their thin blue lips

.

perhaps their anchors had long dissolved

and they’ll rise to the surface soon—maybe

if i embraced the cold, i’ll finally be one of them.

Six Feet Under, Stars Above

You’re just another set of bones to lay to rest
I guess it’s time to say goodnight
Hope you had a really good time, good time…

~*~

tonight, the sun will go down

along with a million stars into the ground

fading into silent eviction

and every speck i’ll count is but a perception

taste of blood i feel on my tongue

as heavy as the lonesome bed left unsung

muttering the wrong name on my drowsy lips

sharpening the needles of apologies

perhaps it’ll be alright, if i’m able

or perhaps i’ll end up sleeping on the kitchen table

with a Jack and a flat drunk dial tone

picking up where i left off on the disconnected telephone

but i will never forget your infinite sighs

when you whispered softly “we should die in style”

and tonight, when the sun goes down

i’ll be waiting for you, six feet under the ground.

Reanimation

You know that you had to know that I’d be on my way
It happened long ago there’s nothing more to say
And I don’t wanna be the one to tell you blood is on your hands
And I don’t think you realize or even understand so I say…

~*~

Now we’re just casual foes counting casualties

Waiting for a staid hello to recount the vacancies

But never leaving, never giving the pleasantries

At the back of our heads to shoot what we missed

.

Was there any answer? Am I just a necromancer

Bring back to life what was long gone, washing

My eyes to the sun to remind the sky forever that

The nights will bleed into red, and I hold the gun

.

Maybe it was too soon, maybe I picked the wrong tune

To sing at the funeral of a wedding march at the very end

Of the line, is it time, is it mine? What was yours to take

Every mindless mistake, yours to blame, yours to suspend

.

So go on, go on, it doesn’t matter if I get pulled along

This is my lullaby, only this night I’ll be sleeping alone

What was to gain from the concrete rain? Falling under

Going under, don’t hold your breath, this isn’t any better

.

Now we’re just casual foes counting, cashing our casualties

Waiting for the stagnant goodbye to enter the lost vacancies

Of the reason, of every treason of the damn good memories

At the back of our heads, I only wonder what we’ve missed.

~*~

Days go by, some good and some are bad, soon you’ll realize
It all goes by so fast and its over, it’s something that you can’t get right
Or maybe you just have no time, it seems like everybody’s gone
‘Cause that’s none of mine, you say that I’m just wasting time
But I would say that I’m doing alright, I’m on to better days…

A Thousand Footsteps Away

Am I following too close?
Or am I right where I’m supposed to be?
Am I a million miles away?
Or am I so close I can almost reach?
Did I do it to myself?
Or did I really mean what I believe?

~*~

I’d leave a thousand times

And promise secrets I don’t intend to keep

Leave me alone in the valleys of ache

I will sing my drowning demons to sleep

.

I’d leave a thousand times

And swear to god I won’t pray anymore

Let me be to fester in my bloodstains

Like that mattered to you at all

.

I’d leave a thousand times

To retrace what was never there

When home was just a concept

And the white walls were once bare

.

I’d leave a thousand times

And speak about this infinite silence

When the doves come cooing back

I’m motionless in my presence

.

I’d leave a thousand times

And smile a smile that’s all teeth

This isn’t an ordinary cause for celebration

Let’s raise broken glasses at my defeat

.

I’d leave a thousand times

And say the lies I’ll hold to be true

Maybe this time the retreat will be short

And the release would be from me to you

.

I’d leave a thousand times

Just to come find myself again

If the raging undertows pull me under

Who knows what I’ll discover.

~*~

All I ever wanted was the blinding
Because all I ever saw was just a name
And all I ever wanted was to find it
It’s time, I finally know just what it means
To go off the rails, to go off the rails…

Glass Shards Taste Sweeter Than Revenge

Cut off my wings and come lock me up
Just pull the plug yeah, I’ve had enough
Tear me to pieces, sell me for parts
You’re all vampires so here
You can have my heart…

~*~

you’re not worth

swallowing eggshells for

i wish i knew before i

digested all your bullshit

not everyone can spill

sunshine when they speak

and i’d rather die by my

own hand than your radiation

so take a fucking razor

and cut your palms open

just bleed the hell out

and drown all the demons

and pull yourself so far under

isn’t that what you always want?

don’t let the roses stop you

burn me out as you did

to those innocent paper towns

because i’m waterlogged anyway

you’ve no use for my pages

and yet you persist to write the

profanities and revilement

just to wipe condescension in

like your own twisted diary

i hope you’re happy now

from slashing my ankles simply

‘cause you got tired of this

if you can’t chase, no one can

honestly i’m glad you cut me off

though i may be crippled, at

least my conscience isn’t paralysed

my shame isn’t metastasised

i guess so long, goodnight, and

good goddamned riddance

hope you have fun stepping on

the glass shards i spit out for you.

~*~

So come rain on my parade, ’cause I wanna feel it
Come shove me over the edge ’cause my head is in overdrive
I’m sorry, but it’s too late and it’s not worth saving
So come rain on my parade, I think we’re doomed
I think we’re doomed, and now there is no way back…

Dépendance Noiré

Yeah, you don’t know my mind
You don’t know my kind
Dark necessities are part of my design
Tell the world that I’m falling from the sky…

~*~

I sign the papers to my own death knell

As I gladly submit to your anathemic spell

A personal, selfish, rotten, sick addiction

Adding another rusty nail to my crucifixion

The darkest of my clandestine necessities

Lighting me up inside like wild incendiaries

Got me so high until I refuse thusly to stop

So make me fly again and fill up my cup

Swirling with the sweetest soul’s spirits

Add another toxic scarlet potion and stir it

Perfume scents, the most dizzying kind

Further deepen the haze that is my mind

Soliloquies and bullets spill from my mouth

Confessions told, kneeling in a roundabout

Vices, virtues, now they all look the same

Salvation, sinning, so remember my name

I know the bad side effects, consequences

I have knowledge of this wrongful mess

But at this point I’m lost, gone too far under

To even stop to care about it now and wonder.

~*~

Do you want this love of mine
The darkness helps to sort the shine
Do you want it, do you want it now?…
