Not Your Monster

I am not your monster

I’m not the flesh you wish to rend

With your bared fangs

Clawing the sides of my shoulders

As if making me bleed

Profusely would be your salvation

.

I am not your monster

Hidden underneath the floorboards

But you have a shovel

And a knife, and the dirt you dug up

Was crammed into my

Mouth, burying all the words I spoke

.

I am not your monster

Stitched up and painted to look alive

A bride without a heart

Shambling down the aisle in despair

Veil masking the frowns

Picking thorns out of my open palms

.

I am not your monster

A lullaby you use to terrify children

Threatening retribution

From such a wicked, deformed being

Still human; though just

Not enough to invoke empathic pity

.

I am not your monster

The madness you created for yourself

Scars warn to “stay away”

An urban legend for the rest of society

No, I am not your monster

But I fear you might be becoming mine.

Bang Goes The Nerve

And bang bang bang

Goes the beat of the guilty hearts

We’re singing songs for the wicked

And it tears this apart

So cry cry cry

About the modest words

That set eyes on a hurricane

And broke down honest worlds

Kiss kiss kill me again

Savour the moment, let’s be friends

But dance on the ashes, ignite the fire

Deprecation’s a bitch, and you know how to use her

Walk ahead and go go go

I’ll put your complaints on hold

And if they died just trying to miss you

Arrogance must feel so cold

And bang bang bang

Goes the beat of the guilty hearts

We’re singing songs about clear-cut misery

The end doesn’t know where to start.

Behind the Verdict

Portraits of an illumination

Quorums decorating forums

On misleading a suspension

Fall toward chronic decorum

A ubiquitous charade distorts

The matrix of an unfair court

Denizens whisper their creed

Rumours anoint wicked deeds

The jury rushes its deliberation

Testimonies become a sensation

Impostors never offer the name

But prosecute you for the blame.

Wicked Halo

I was used to rejection, but not from the sky

Angels ejected me out of the clouds for a lie

Both wings were fractured, my halo dimmed

But I can promise you that this wasn’t my sin

They call me fallen, I’ll call them in expletives

I saw paradise, and it wasn’t all that exclusive

All shades of purity, all hues of vestal virginity

And in other words, it’s the most perfect ennui

I was extinguished, just another star left to die

But now I’m careening down, set to destroy life

You will ask, did it hurt when you fell from heaven?

But I was never there in the first place, so try again.
